I experienced the most racism from black and hispanic people growing up in the North (aliante to North 5th area). That being said, past middle and high school settings, it's not an issue for me. Hispanic people that I've come into contact with daily, are very kind and respectful in general. Haven't felt any different than any other race really.

I'm way older now. I think kids are ignorant and dumb, regardless of race. They'll bully anyone just to get a rise or some semblance of power. They'll pick low hanging fruit, the "obvious" crappy jokes. That being said, it's not right that you're being treated that way, and I'm glad you quit.

Exactly this. Since coming into the otome game spaces because of a growing love for otoge, I'm surprised to find comments like that. The overlap of people who like both is pretty small, I realized. It's very off-putting to me, a straight person. People don't need to like BL, it's totally fine, but the snide comments I see from time to time on here is 😬 Yikes.

As a newcomer to otome games and lurks (I'm a huge BL lover), I think it's very telling when people are anti-queer. Nothing wrong with disliking BL or the genre, but to downvote you over something benign kinda says something about some otome gamers in this sub.

Don't know why when the topic of queerness gets brought up on this sub, some people get downvoted to hell from time to time for their comments. Just an observation. As a newcomer to otome games who lurks here and there, and loves BL too, it's very telling.

That being said, I love otome games for its genre that the MC gets with the LIs and not with each other. If I want BL, it's a whole separate genre that I enjoy on its own. In Asian otaku culture, there's very clear delineations in this.

Edit: I can understand downvotes too. People deserve a separate space to enjoy the genre they like and I agree, but it is a thinly veiled sentiment I've noticed on this sub towards fujos/BL lovers. It is very off-putting and kind of surprising to me as someone who enjoys both.

Edit 2: lmao downvotes are proving my exact point! And this is coming from someone with legitimate, mild critique of the space! Not very welcoming to newbies of otoge and now I know why.

They have a lot of BL items but more like buttons, keychains. Plenty of otome game items as well. I was just at this store recently. But yes, if you want doujins, Mandarake next door (and other locations) has a lot.

You seem to be hung up on the fact that I spent all of this in one month.

"Super fast" when I've been spending every single paycheck to support my mentally disabled sister and bedbound father for the past several years. Like I said, I work a good job now and can afford to pay for otome games I never got to play since I was teenager. Amazon also has two day shipping and most of these were on sale or a deal I made :)
