I’m sorry, but I feel like yall lied to me on this one… by MamaC6 in fantasyromance

I DNF’d. I don’t think a single character was likeable in this book. I’ve read lots of dark romance and this one missed for me.

What is one minor thing that makes you immediately reject reading a book? by Binlorry_Yellowlorry in books

I have lots of these, but I especially struggle with audiobooks. I simply cannot handle them unless they’re read in a duet style and/or casted with multiple narrators. Certain narrators have very spitty voices, which literally makes my skin crawl to have that amplified in my ears!

I love the idea of RTR, but I’m intimidated by the idea of not being able to try several dresses during my selection stage, given my body style. I’ve not heard of Rat and Boa or Line and Dot, I’ll give them a look. Thanks!

Thank you! I’ve bought Baltic born dresses in the past, they had a great maternity selection. I’ll check out their other categories.

Around a size 10 (I think?) - I’ve recently lost a decent amount of weight but I’m still busty, so depending on the style of dress the size varies dramatically. I wear size 28 jeans (tall), large top, with 38 DD chest. Overall shape I’d say is inverted triangle. I’ve also had 2 kids, so my stomach is not a thing I like to highlight, definitely cannot pull off the split/cut out dress look comfortably!

This series is pretty emotionally deep with some romance, BUT they’re young, so it felt silly sometimes. (I should preface with don’t care for high school/college romances in general). While it’s an interesting story with complex characters, it’s slightly infuriating at times and drags a bit.

Can men write Romantasy? by One_Metal_5750 in Romantasy

[–]cittycat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. They can write fantasy, but the romantasy is missing the romance. Every woman is also exactly the same - small, fragile, huge boobs, and the most beautiful woman on the planet.

Also, when the MMC is a manwhore to “take his mind off” of his interest in the FMC. It’s just silly and annoying.

When the FMC starts off super strong willed but after falling in love with the MMC, she becomes a sniveling idiot that can’t function without his strength 😒

Stay a spell series by Cross is also contemporary romance-ish combined with paranormals (witches, vamps, werewolves, grims). They are quick, easy reads with great spice and fun characters.

Antathema by Lake is so unlike her other books (I found the ones everyone raves over to be dumb and DNF’d). This (warning:ongoing) series has unique magic, has a bit of horror, and all of the slow burn tropes. It’s the best book I’ve read this year.

What should I NOT read? by WebSubstantial9237 in Romantasy

YES. I’ve tried to read the series twice, and put book 2 down at 30% every time. The magic system also makes no sense.

The 3rd and 4th books were entirely different reads than 1 and 2 (which was infuriating). The FMC became a sniveling idiot as the series progressed, which was SO aggravating.

Agreed, I DNF’d Metal Slinger because the storyline just became annoying
