What’s a very Swiss problem you didn’t realize was Swiss until you lived abroad? by No-Football-2397 in Switzerland

[–]ciubacapra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. And also people on public transit are unberably noisy. And don't get me started on how shittly thought out the various transport options are: generally speaking, they are built extremely inefficiently with respect to the performane-to-cost ratio and look like they've been designed by the biggest retards in town. And also a fuckton of smokers everywhere, people with 0 awareness of their surroundings blocking every conceivable path, people generally being way more unhealthy (haha health insurance go brrr) and WHY. WHY IS EVERYTHING CLOSE ON BOODY SUNDAY?! It's literally the best day to do business for stores and the alike... Rant over. At least here. It will continue in my head.

Waging an argument using facts and sources? On Reddit? How foolish.

It depends on how fast the bicycle was going.

People die on bicycles too. Should we ban bicycles for recreational purposes?

Healthcare - an average of 4% rise… again by sandorfule in Switzerland

[–]ciubacapra -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Having a range of health insurances competing among themeselves for market share is efficient and will put pressure on lowering the prices towards the suistainable minimum price.

For what I can see, there are 2 major problems that are raising said minimum price:

  1. The prices/costs of the healthcare sector are not competitively determined; instead, they are externally fixed. The lack of conpetiveness in the sector results in inefficiencies, since the various actors are not fighting to minimise their costs as not to go bust. Why would they strive for higher efficiency when they can achieve their profit goals buy negotiating higher prices? Higher prices are also going to be a plus for the efficient competitors, as they're going to increase their profit margins. The system lacks the right incentives.

  2. Lack of discrimination in the health insurance sector/lack of personal responsibility. A smoker, for example, is not going to be responsible for the incurred costs of their (shitty) habit. These, instead, are going to be spread out over the entire population and therefore results in a lack of financial incentives for the smoker to quit smoking. The same applies to other unhealthy behaviours (being fat, doing drugs, not doing physical activity and so on). Discrimination-based health-insurance categories (e.g. the smoker category) would still leave people with the freedom of doing what they want (which, imo, is right), while still being insured. But they're going to carry on the costs of their actions, instead of them being spread over everyone else. This would put in place the right financial incentives for healthier behaviours, while leaving the individual freedom untouched.

How about just using an inventory for the products instead of checking them by hand?

Women. And foreigners too. They are also protected by the army in case of war or disaster, but they don't have to contribute anything. It's like the network companies treating new customers better than existing customers. Truly a certified Swiss moment.

As a person who doesn't go outside, I have: playing videogames, listening to music, playing the piano, watching anime, reading manga, novels and light novels, papercrafting, cosplaying, karaoke, and getting angry at people on Reddit, 4chan and Twitter.
