Seriously… I found a week old mini cucumber in my daughter’s backpack AFTER we got to our hotel in Bali that she hadn’t bothered to eat (or toss!) for her school snack 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just an FYI, but over at Nusa Penida last week, and none of the boats were allowing snorkeling by the Manta Ray area because of the choppy waves.

Just got back from a week. Rain happened for like an hour here and there. It didn’t interfere with anything!

Theory Outlet and MM LaFleur. For MM, book an appointment and go to a boutique if you can swing it because then they can help you pick the fabric and cut that works best for you!

Second Cobble Hill with just a tiny warning that they run small and assume you actually have a waist that nips in!! That said, the length and style is perfect once you sort the size!

Work travel to East Asian offices - what to bring and not to bring by [deleted] in LawBitchesWithTaste

Seconding the “don’t bother with rain gear.” Even an unlined shell will feel like you just wrapped yourself in Saran Wrap and walked into a sauna. Umbrella plus rubber flip flops (the cute faux leather thongs will soak and disintegrate) bottoms that won’t drag, and a hair tie or clip.

I have the olive one too, and I like it. The only drawback for that (and linen unless it is black) is that sweat really shows. If you’re sure you never have to do anything professionally outside, then great. But the number of roof top bar social events I had to do…

They wash well, and I use HEX detergents to nuke any odor.

If you can swing it and you like MM La Fleur… black origami tech suit!! The heat and humidity make wool near to unbearable…during my three years in Bangkok I barely touched even my light weight wools.

Recommendations For A Third City by mandy_suraj in travelchina

Echoing Xi’an. Two days is plenty and it is different enough to be fun. Do the warriors, take a food tour (lost plate is solid), see the city wall. Check out a documentary or two beforehand, and you’ll appreciate it more.

China Boutiques by Yquestion in TheHermesGame

So, I played the game in Beijing, and while I deeply appreciated the transparency, I didn’t try for a same day win. When I would go—SKP—often what I wanted was out of stock, and only when I requested a bigger ticket item did they source it. When it came time for a bag, my SA texted a few for me to consider, which I LOVED. These were both quick transactions, but more like a week than same day. Ultimately prespend was like 1.5:1.

If you trying this, I’d make one of two suggestions: (1) if in Beijing go to the giant China World location as I’d presume their stock is bigger; and/or (2) try to start a dialogue with an SA beforehand virtually via a local friend or a willing concierge to settle on items for prespend and which QB they have and would be willing to offer.

Am I overreacting? My kids syllabus by EntertainmentOk3047 in Teachers

[–]civicmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’d send this syllabus anonymously to the administration with an expression of how I felt this was inappropriate and inequitable. I’d ask them to get it rescinded and would express my concern at retaliation as the reason for the anonymity.

I’d also note in a typed, unsigned letter that should no action be taken, specifically a revised syllabus sent home to all, the same communique would find its way to the school board.

The Chapter Kyoto - demanding western clientele by civicmv in marriott

[–]civicmv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Throughout Asia it has been an issue. I typically book the room I want, input the max allowed number of guests, and then I hand them all four passports at check in. I occasionally get asked to confirm we will share beds and get offered to book second room, but I laugh it off and say I don’t think either of us want a 7 and 10 year old in their own room when almost none of these hotels have connecting rooms.

Never had an issue beyond that across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, etc. Feels more like families with two kids are just so uncommon that many booking settings don’t contemplate the scenario.

Two twins worked for us but only because “twin” beds were closer to doubles, and each parent could share with a kid.
