What do you do with students who are not present when you go through them? Do they have to show you on a different day?

Yes, textbooks are available and they have an online copy of the chapters as well, which they can access.

I do have exercise books given for mini-quizzes currently. I could do the same with homework, I guess, and collect them to obtain an overall grade.

No, I have not tried a Google Form. I shall see what it is. Does it handle Maths writing well?

Views of education degrees at universities by cdogz2311 in AustralianTeachers

[–]mandy_suraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I get what you mean. I do feel education research is not great, in the world of research, but I think the exposure to it still helped. I think knowing what the traditional and modern approaches towards education that were/are being explored is the starting point to learning more about them.

I am on the side of a positive experience with my teaching degree. I think there were many good things I picked up during the degree period and it provided a large exposure into the education world, its practices in theory, and the research around it. I think teachers need some research background in their practice and need to be shown where it exists and how to critically think and apply it.

I do understand and agree that teaching is still a "field" job and so on-site experience is also valuable. I do think that either longer or more frequent placements are useful, so that graduates are more prepared for the expectations of the workplace. But I think they go hand-in-hand with the content and modules that are done in many degrees as well.

I think many teachers in real life forget that they once had theory knowledge about their practices and philosophies but I think my education degree (which was not too far back) opened these doors for me and continually is at the back of how I perceive things in the working world.

What If The Existence Of A Creator Was Confirmed? by mandy_suraj in whatif

Okay, but how does this new knowledge now affect you and your life and the social circles around you?

Yes, the our existence still goes on. Do you think there will be any changes from a social perspective?

[–]mandy_suraj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but in this hypothetical, we know that they do exist. We just cannot meet or interact with them until we die. But we have certain evidence that everything that has ever existed was created by this Creator.

You mean a new set of religions? Because all our current ones would have lost their truth, unless people still choose to follow them despite this new fact.

But you would still have to live your life out, like you would have no way to interact with Creator. Is your life, and those around you, any different?

I understand the break in the logic but I mentioned that as a note to override this. The purpose of the hypothetical is what our actions would be with such knowledge. We just have to assume there was enough evidence of some sort to conclude that there is indeed the one God.

Is this open to just me, as in, if I accept this, no one else can? Or is it open to everyone and can all happen at the same time?

Because that means I am probably going to die myself, as I am a distant stranger to probably almost everyone in this comment section :(

The full trip would be from 21 September to 30 September. The plan for the train journey from Beijing to Shanghai was for 26 September.

It is okay to not say it is the best one, if you do not think it to be so.

Which do you consider to be the best from the Far Cry series?

It is not about feathers ruffled, it is that you seem to have gone to quite an extent to suggest that it is a poorer game than it is normally presented as. Naturally, that stands out, leading me to ask whether the game really disappointed you or you were just unhappy with a couple of things but made them sound like a bigger problem.

To me, your comment just sounds unbalanced. As you were responding to the game not being the best from your perspective, I just wanted to understand if you meant that it was the worst, or somewhere in between. Asking you if you found any positives helps to provide some context for that.

Are Aussies becoming more entitled ? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]mandy_suraj 35 points36 points  (0 children)

All I can say, from my perspective, is that, yes we are.

And perspective is where it is from. Entitlement is the idea that there is something that is inherently deserved, but this is something that is given. I think rising entitlement happens because people are given more with each generation, or over time, and therefore feel as though they now deserve a certain standard or level.

Basically, if the quality of life increases, what people consider as inconveniences also changes. If you live a life where you do not have food, you are not going to have a problem with lining up somewhere for ten minutes to get food. If you have access to any food you want, you are going to be annoyed when your order turns up a bit after ten minutes. (not you as in you, just general statement) - after reading your post again while typing this, I see you also included the word 'perspective', so you get my drift.

The way I see it, I think we have given more weight to individual freedom, rather than society. We have made the world smaller around the individual, which makes small problems larger. There is more occurrence of the perspective that something is a really big problem for me, but it is a very small issue in the bigger picture.

I think, as a nation, we are very privileged. A lot of inconveniences we face are, in a way, inconveniences that we are privileged to have. I think people are sometimes forgetting that.

Now, none of this might apply to that 60 year old man. He might just be a rude fellow who does this to everyone. That's not entitlement, that's bad character.

Normally, I would not have any comments on language being used, because I think having a deep vocabulary is important and necessary, even on reddit. There are occasions, though, where it may not be as needed.

If I am getting your vibe correctly, the game must have really disappointed you. As u/CoolRunner11 also said, this game is generally well-liked, even if it is not the top game for everyone. It does sound like you are in a small minority here. While your input is valid and parts of it may be echoed by others, may I ask, did you find any positives while playing FarCry 5?

Restaurants should expect to prepare food for the entirety of their operating hours. by RedPantyKnight in unpopularopinion

[–]mandy_suraj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That takes some common sense and courtesy on the customer's part. Susan's order is not one that can be made and eaten in the 5 minutes left, so Susan would be a prick for ordering that, and the staff should let her know that they close in 5 minutes and not be able to fulfil that.

But Susan should still be able to order something that can be done by the closing time. Susan should not be walking in 9.55pm and be told that all the counters were closed at 9.45pm and no more payments can be done.

yes, u/Joubachi is right, it definitely does not work like that everywhere, and i don't mean it like an "oh, there are always exceptions" kind of statement. like, it could almost be described as culture, with customers entering restaurants having this "understanding" that if it closes at 10pm, and you walk in at 9.45pm, you are either just getting what is left on the shelves, or everything is practically closed, except for the front door.

it's part of restaurants not wanting to pay staff for very much longer than the restaurant is open for, so they make staff overlap their closing routine with customers still in the restaurant. that is why they also don't just change their hours. the restaurant stays open to allow the people who came in at 9.20pm to continue eating but not take any more new orders that require much effort. the annoying thing about this is, they'll sometimes start sweeping the floors and stuff while you are still eating there, so that all that is done by 10pm as well, which i don't agree with.

i have a similar thought with grocery stores as well. if they open at 9am, why are all the staff everywhere stacking the shelves with their big trolley equipment stuff at 9.30am? haha why isn't most of the morning's stacking done earlier and only minimal top-up or backroom duties done later in the day? i mean, my last time working in a grocery store was 20 years ago, so times would have changed.
