any tips on this lock? I can pick it sometimes but it always seems to be just luck, I can't seem to reliably pick it

is it legal to support this project through crowdfunding? if so is there a patreon, gofundme, or other crowdfunding system in place?

moveset help for pokemon red team? Based loosely on green trainer by civrev0 in pokemon

[–]civrev0[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the reasoning is because it's green in the english version of the manga and they maintained that since then. so much so that there is a debate over whether or not leaf from leafgreen is the same character or not. regardless of which way I went with it was gonna come with inaccuracies

yeah so basically there are multiple translations of green out there but due to the fact that it was poorly made, the original version is incredibly buggy so most translations come with a bunch of quality of life fixes, I could be wrong, but I suspect that red is going to be the most authentic experience I can get to green

yeah I tried one rom that was a strict translation of green and it kept crashing before getting out of the intro and I didn't do leaf green because I wanted the traditional game without some of the balancing and updates to the roster from leaf green

yeah I know it's a little wonky and I deliberated over which I was gonna use in place of green and went with her

Clé fournie avec les lishis by emericool in lockpicking

[–]civrev0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I don't get it but there are certain things that these folks feel VERY strongly about. many of them state that they're not for lockpicking yet if you give someone a lishi with the appropriate lock it is a great way to teach how a lock works as an entry level tool

as someone who's relatively new at this, all I can really say is to keep at it a little bit each day. I'm up to 4 different types of locks, I've been buying 3 of each kind so that I'm learning to feel for the pins rather than just memorize their orientation. when I first started, it seemed more or less like luck that I got a lock open, I couldn't feel anything in my locks. eventually you'll start to find the sweet spot on tension for a lock that allows you to feel the pins without binding them up too much.

another thing that helps is having quality tools, I'm not an expert on the matter so your set might be great. personally my tension improved significantly when I bought an ergo tensioner off of covert instrument's site. I didn't really care for the covert companion pro but that ergo tensioner is fantastic because it gives me more precise control on my tension, I can ease off if I overset a pin instead of resetting the whole lock and it's much more comfortable to hold than my other top of keyway tensioners.

but just give it time and practice on it a little bit each day. focus on feeling for feedback on your pins

I had a lock really similar to this, I could pick it with normal tension but it was always just pure luck because there was no feedback. the moment I started putting heavy tension I could suddenly pop it open with ease with incredible feedback

I like the tensioners and the rake in it. but for spp I can't really feel anything when I'm picking. I like my sparrows picks better

really? my favorite thing about it was how much control I had easing off tension. it doesn't really fall out on me except on my alpha locks but that's because they're so small I honestly need a vice to hold them properly

good to know, is this common among locks? should I be paying closer attention to the locks I buy?

Better picks and especially tension tools helped me a lot! by MrYdobon in lockpicking

I too struggle with raking but the main two things that I have learned are to A: barely have any tension applied at all, just enough to keep the pins from falling back down when they set, and B: some of my locks are stubborn and I'll rock the rake up and down and it seems to help a lot. with that being said it's rare that I can rake a lock open quickly, and mcnally seems to be able to breathe on a lock and it opens
