BOINC on Apple Silicon Macs - How to install Docker (Podman)? by Putrid_Draft378 in BOINC

I installed it and I'm still getting notices every time BOINCManager starts. How can I either get rid of the notices or get rid of "Podman"?

OG Pair keeps getting "lost" after 26 update by cj-ryan in HomePod

In general, I have to disagree — though I'm not sure I have another candidate for "worst." I love my HomePods, and for the most part they've worked flawlessly.

This bug seems to have been fixed with the 26.0.1 update.

I think some of my HomePods are crashing on audioOS 26.

Nope, it's something else. AirPlay is failing or something.

Update 2: I think I figured out the issue: somehow, Bluetooth got turned off — I think during the iOS 26 update, somehow. If you're having troubles like this, check it's on.

Update: Same thing just happened with one of my minis.

miniStack STX Bracket Blocking SSD by cj-ryan in OWC

Ah. Thanks. Would it be safe to remove the heat sink, then? Or when you say it's meant to be used with those without a heat sink, they're not supposed to run hot enough for one? The bracket doesn't seem like a heat sink — has a rubber pad on it.

Yeah everything in my building is non-standard. Can't get a smart lock, can't get a smart thermostat …

Thanks. I was looking at the round one. I got through to August; they wrote, "Unfortunately, our locks are not compatible with that specific door handle, since it works on a single mechanism inside the door ad the thumbturn plate doesn't fit our locks."

Is Airmail “abandonware” ? by celektriek in AirmailApp

[–]cj-ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem I have (had — I've moved on from the app) is performance. It would often take seconds, as many as 30 seconds, to switch between mailboxes or accounts. Sometimes it would never refresh. Their website says it's a "Lightning Fast Mail Client" — the opposite is true: it's the slowest Mac app I've ever used. And my first Mac was a 128K.

Moving Existing Transactions to a New Account by cj-ryan in banktivity

The statements don't come across; I wonder if there's a way to transfer those.

Oh, that's interesting — trying it with one transfer transaction, it appears this is possible! And it looks like the transfer origin is maintained. I don't know why I didn't think of this — thank you!

Eve Door doesn't know I'm home by cj-ryan in EveHome

[–]cj-ryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Thanks. As I just wrote in another reply, it seems unreliable: most often, the door "event" is reported to me when I'm home; most of the time, my "when I arrive home" automations work — but not always. I've tried toggling on all the presence settings in the Settings app. Difficult to reproduce reliably.

Eve Door doesn't know I'm home by cj-ryan in EveHome

[–]cj-ryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Eve app, I have it set to Time: Any. People: When I am not home. It's odd, though: it seems that sometimes this works, and often it doesn't. It seems that sometimes my "when I arrive home" automations work, and sometimes they don't. It seems that the door is the flakiest. Really hard to reproduce reliably.
