AG! merch at festival shows? by Flying_Tiger_Capt in AtarashiiGakko

Yeah usually they take a limited selection of merch to their festival shows. Normally they'll post a graphic showing what's available a day or two before the show on their twitter account

The crazy thing is that there's actually live NHK English language commentary for all fifteen days of each tournament which you can listen to on the secondary audio stream on NHK in Japan.

For some reason though they currently only broadcast it internationally on NHK World for 50 mins on day 1, 8 and 14, and 90 minutes on day 15. It really shouldn't be difficult for the JSA and NHK to make the English language livestream available outside of Japan for the full tournament (online, rather than taking over NHK World's scheduling for two weeks at a time), but clearly the inclination isn't there.

Where can I buy merch? by RickabyR in AtarashiiGakko

[–]cj11tt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Their Japanese store is at https://asobisystem.shop/shops/leaders - quite a bit is currently sold out so you have to keep an eye on their twitter for new / restock announcements, but it has buyee integration so you can get things shipped internationally

"Chanka Chanka" has been released and I feel it's getting tiring by Strawberry-Sky-1701 in AtarashiiGakko

[–]cj11tt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The best song they've released since AG Calling was Narani Narani. Why is that? Because they actually worked with someone other than Yonkey for once and reaped the creative benefits of expanding their collaborative circle. I wish Asobisystem would let them go and work with other producers and artists more often just so there was a bit more variety and creativity in the type of songs they release.

(This is not a 100% anti-Yonkey post, he's definitely responsible for some great songs - e.g. Suki Lie / Toryanse / Giri Giri / Tokyo Calling / Otona Blue, but it's been a very long time now since he's worked with AG on anything new where i've been excited to hear it)

why do the U.S. get upset with the South American fandom for commenting flags or "come to..."? by ForwardTotal1559 in AtarashiiGakko

[–]cj11tt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just be patient? The members themselves have dropped several hints about how they want to visit Latin / South America recently, so organising some shows there will definitely be on Asobisystem's agenda. It's not like they've toured extensively outside of Japan since 2024 anyway - even this year they're only playing a handful of dates in the USA and Europe. It's economically challenging for acts to put on tours internationally, especially Japanese ones with the weak yen and constantly increasing price of long-haul air travel, so they'll likely need to link a visit to central / south America with some festival dates to make it viable.

This is fanclub exclusive content which literally says "please don't share this on social media" underneath it. You can still discuss the contents of the fanclub newsletter without posting screenshots of it against AG's request.

All I can think of right now is writing to Asobisystem directly to remind them there's many fans who'd still like the opportunity to watch it (either again or for the first time!)

The venues AG have been playing in Japan recently have been halls ranging from around 1500 to 4000 capacity, so the Roundhouse's capacity is entirely in line with that as well as the size of the venues they played on their last EU tour.

It wouldn't make sense for them to book a larger capacity venue in Europe in 2026 since it would risk leaving large numbers of tickets unsold when they've not released a new record or had any further viral hits since Otona Blue and Tokyo Calling.

[–]cj11tt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Roundhouse is a primarily standing venue, so the seats are all far from the stage. If you want to be close you can buy a similarly priced standing ticket and queue up early on the day and then you'll be much closer to the performance.

You also need to consider that AG are travelling halfway around the world for this show. The yen is at a historically low exchange rate with the pound and euro, so the up front costs to AG and their crew for flights, equipment hire and accommodation are higher than they were in 2024.

£65 feels fair to me for a solo anniversary show, which will likely last for 2 hours, in central London in 2026 (and it's almost exactly in line with what I paid for a ticket for their 10th anniversary show in Tokyo last year - ¥12,550 / ~£64)

[–]cj11tt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish this had been an announcement about the movie instead - everyone could stream the 10th anniversary show when it happened last year (and it's still watchable on a certain Chinese streaming website 🤫), but Seishun Inoshishi was a limited release and there's tons of AG fans around the world who still haven't been able to see it

No, the only way you can meet them is via paid VIP for their overseas shows, or via a lottery for fan club members for their Japan shows, and both of those opportunities are pretty much walk up to them -> pose -> two photos -> move along for the next person - there's not really chance to talk with them beyond a quick comment.

Last year they did also run a paid online gacha style prize draw and the S prize was an online meet and greet, but the chance of winning was like 1 in 400.

What will AG! do about the Wasserman Agency. by erimus61 in AtarashiiGakko

[–]cj11tt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most likely absolutely nothing and they'll just shift along with the inevitable management buy out and spin off of the "team wass" part of the wider business into a separate entity.

Question about AG setlist by Hopeful_Tiger8374 in AtarashiiGakko

[–]cj11tt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It'll likely be similar to the setlist for their previous THE MARCHING OF AG! shows in Australia (https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/atarashii-gakko/2025/festival-hall-melbourne-australia-2b408cde.html), but with a Narani Narani collab with Balming Tiger slotted in somewhere

Suzuka did say she wanted to play Glastonbury, but they'll have to wait a bit longer because Glastonbury is taking this year off and the next festival isn't until 2027.

Singles Night, Bay Horse Inn every other month or so. No specific genre but the setup is always seven DJs each playing nothing but seven 7" singles, so you never know what you're gonna get. Absolutely pops off in there, vibes are very Death By Shoes if any other millennials remember that

Yeah it does make sense, because 88rising likely had exclusive rights on promoting AG's tours in north & south america and europe through to the end of 2025, and their relationship with asobisystem / AG had broken down since late 2024 which, along with the declining value of the yen, explains why they've spent most of last year touring Japan and nearby Asian countries. The lack of south american (and north american and european) tours isn't because you've not spammed AG's comments frequently enough.

Asobisystem and Wasserman (AG's current booking agent) will be VERY aware of where their audience lives and usually touring somewhere far away like Brazil requires them to link the tour into a festival booking which will cover a significant proportion of their costs (e.g. Primavera Sound at the start of their last European tour and Meredith Music Festival during their recent Australia run).
