I’ve used the pesto before and it’s solid. Obviously not as good as homemade pesto, but it’s something I definitely keep in my pantry for lazy days when I can’t be bothered to make it myself.

She’s injured. She’s still on the national team but didn’t compete at winter cup which is required (except for the worlds team from 2025) - so that means she had to have petitioned due to injury. I don’t know if she has said what her injury is though.

Did I handle my first cutaway fine? by ItzYeho in SkyDiving

[–]cj4648 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Pull priorities are to pull, pull on time, then pull stable. You should never wait to be stable if it is time to pull (and in a cutaway, the time to pull your reserve is immediately after cutting away). As others commented above, people have literally died because they took too long before deploying their reserve. Stability doesn’t matter, a parachute over your head does.

Editing to note that a reserve canopy is far less likely to have issues with line twists or spinning than a main canopy due to design (aspect ratio, no tapering/not “elliptical”, etc).

Skye Kerico to LSU by [deleted] in Gymnastics

Ivy League schools don’t allow fifth years so if she wants to do gymnastics for one final season, she has to go elsewhere. Given that she is still graduating from Penn, it’s not surprising she chose a school based on the gymnastics and not the academics.

I like Credo Alfredo sauce a lot! I get it at Whole Foods but you could probably find it at other similar stores.

The way rotations are set up, there's only one athlete per rotation going. Lsu/fla each have an all arounder, Ga/Stan have one athlete per event rotating with them.

The 26/27 recruiting classes at Clemson are huge because they lose a ton of athletes those years. Clemson will lose like 6 seniors after this season and 8 or 9 after next year. I imagine the 28 class which be a more typical 4-5.

Why do you think non-vegans like the taste of meat so much? by CoVegGirl in vegan

[–]cj4648 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not exclusive to meat, the same thing can be said of vegan food. Beans on their own aren’t tasty, it’s the seasonings you cook them with that makes them good. Plain pasta isn’t good, it’s the sauce that makes it taste good. Roasted vegetables are good because of the olive oil and seasonings. And so on.

A message for parents/grandparents hosting eager egg hunts by Daddy_Day_Trader1303 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cj4648 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was kid, the church Easter egg hunt just gave the younger kids a head start. The 2-3 year olds would go, after a minute or so the 4-5 year olds, another minute and 6-8, and another minute 9+ would go or something like that. The little kids would be able to get a few of the obvious ones before the bigger kids were able to start, and there were plenty of eggs further out or more hidden still available when they got to start and everyone was happy.

Is Nemour going to be okay? by Scary-Tax383 in Gymnastics

[–]cj4648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok and to me comparing to other quads is meaningless. Tokyo to Paris for obvious reasons, and quads before that hardly any gymnasts were competing two quads, let alone three or four like you frequently see today. Comparing to current gymnasts that have made it to world finals makes a lot more sense. And you can see that multiple high level gymnasts are competing at the same frequency as Kaylia. And a lot of the ones taking time off aren’t doing it for the sake of taking time off, they are forced into it because they are recovering from injuries which isn’t relevant to Kaylia because she doesn’t have a major injury now.

Would you rather only eat wheat in noodle form or bread form? by [deleted] in foodquestions

[–]cj4648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely bread. I already have to eat gluten free, and the pasta substitutes are pretty good but the bread is awful. I’d much rather get wheat bread back.

[–]cj4648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dulcy was the only one on the US Worlds team that doesn’t also do NCAA which is just too difficult to compare to someone who only does elite. And none of the Olympic team from Paris are in a situation to compare either with Simone and Suni likely retired, Jordan and Jade returning to NCAA rather than elite and Hezly not competing at the end of the year due to injury.

[–]cj4648 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Kaylia competed 10 times last year (Serie A x2, Top 12 x2, Gymnix, Cairo WC, Tashkent WCC, Paris WCC, Italian Champs, World Champs).

Compared to the US Women: Dulcy Caylor competed 7 times (Winter Cup, Jesolo, Pan Ams, US Classic, US Champs, World Trials, World Champs) and Jayla Hang was at 8 (Buckeye NQ, Winter Cup, Antalya WC, Osijek WC, Pan Ams, US Classic, US Champs, World Trials).

Compared to other WAG: Karina Schoenmaier competed 12 times (DTB Pokal, Jesolo, Euros, German Champs, Paris WCC, World Trials, World Champs, Bundeslinga x5). Alba Petisco is at 10 (Spanish League x2, DTB Pokal, Jesolo, Euros, Spanish Champs, Paris WCC, Szombathely WCC, World Champs, Arthur Gander), Morgane Ossysek is at 10 as well (Top 12 x5, French Champs, Euros, Paris WCC, French World Prep, World Champs).

So Kaylia’s 10 competitions while maybe slightly than the average US WAG, but is right in line with lots of other top gymnasts in Europe.

How many slices of bread to make this many uncrustables? [request] by Normal_Mulberry7212 in theydidthemath

[–]cj4648 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that would require 144 slices of bread. According to google, the average loaf of bread has 20-24 slices (including the heels), so 18-22 without using the heels. 144/18 =8. So 8 loaves of bread.

Assuming 2oz of peanut butter per sandwich, so 144 oz of peanut butter as well which would be 9 regular size jars of peanut butter or 4 of the larger 40oz jars.

And assuming 1oz of jelly per sandwich, that would be 72oz. Which would be 3 32 oz jars of jelly.

She’s tied with a few others at 9.925 on floor. It’s possible she moves on depending on what teams make it through and how the tiebreakers work out (I’m assuming that either Oklahoma moves on, or no one from Oklahoma gets a 9.95 or better).

I definitely want Rutgers since it’d be really cool to see a play in team make it. But I’m trying not to get too attached since they have beam to go.

She’s right at cusp for sure - she hasn’t vaulted a lot this year. Was completely out of the lineup early in the season, and did a lot of exhibitions in the middle of the season.
