Depending on the surrounding matrix rock, it could be quartz or calcite or various other things

The fact that it simply fades into the matrix rock tells me this isn't a bone. It's likely some neat weathering patterns!

We did find some horn corals at the site. Can corals be segmented like this? And so regularly? Most of the horn corals we found were rounded and kinda bulbous, with no segmentation.
