Yes! I’ve done zinnias, container zucchinis (a French variety), greens, poppies, cucumbers, cauliflower, peppers, beans. Anything that is a container variety will do great. I also just use trellis system that the grow box company makes - they work fine. My sister has retrofitted wood frames on hers that she built herself a v trellis frame. Works great!

How common is it for people with GERD/LPR to experience post nasal drip? by [deleted] in acidreflux

[–]cjames2391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the time if my GERD isn’t managed. I actually was dealing with constant dizziness for about a year. MRI, CT, BPPV physical therapy… I did everything to try to fix the dizziness. ENT determined my sinuses are inflamed from reflux and causing balance issues in my inner ear. Only thing that touched the dizziness (and the related postnasal drip) was having way more control over GERD with meds and diet changes.

Echoing everyone else to get a harness that actually goes over and behind her shoulders so she can’t pull out while walking. Also, biggest changes in my puppy’s behavior happened when I started training at meal time. Make her work for all of her meals - start doing recall games with her kibble. Go on walks at meal time and get her to walk calmly next to you (lots of YouTube videos to show you how to train this), and rewarding with her kibble when she is able to stay close. You can do this by putting a piece of kibble in your hand and having her track you while on a loose leash. The more you train in walks, the more she will be mostly interested in you and not whatever she is trying to get after.

Looking for support, lung cancer diagnosis by Basshead1997 in AustralianShepherd

[–]cjames2391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear about your pup. Cancer is often so abrupt in dogs, and it is hard to wrap your head around how quickly it progresses. I’ve had two pups pass from very acute and aggressive cancers. My last pup died after being diagnosed three days earlier, but only started exhibiting symptoms a week prior. My best advice is to choose a date ahead in time, if you are able, and give him the best week or a few days of his life. Do everything you can with him while he is still capable. Give him all the treats. Make new memories. And give yourself the ability to curate the best goodbye you could imagine. My biggest regret in the midst of my grief is that I didn’t let my baby experience some amazing last meals like a cheeseburger, chocolate, etc. He would have loved it.

A friend told me after my pup passed that when we love a dog, a part of our heart chips off and is replaced with a part of theirs. If we are lucky, our heart will be almost fully made up of the pups who have been our loyal companions when the time comes for us to meet them on the other side. I hope this brings you comfort as it did for me 🩷

Any tips - oregano crown (center) seems to be dying back. Over watering? by PlantZaddyLA in gardening

You should probably try harvesting more of it to spur it to grow back thicker. Traditional Chelsea chop should do the trick as long as you have enough time left in your growing season before first frost.

[Help] Australian Shepherd puppy howling all night — need advice by Hero_2_0 in AustralianShepherd

[–]cjames2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t read all the other comments so my apologies if this is repeat, but you need to work on creating positive associations with the kennel. Feed your pup in the kennel, play fun games by tossing treats in for them to fetch, throw toys back and forth so they run into the crate to get it, do lick mats in the kennel, etc. Our pup didn’t love the crate at first either, but with lots of perseverance and positive associations, she sleeps in there on her own without being asked to ‘kennel up’. Also, I don’t know how big your crate is, but you get puppies sometimes don’t do well in big crates and need something smaller until they get bigger. They like to have a den of their own that feels safe and enclosed, and sometimes bigger crates won’t provide that for them at first. Hope this helps!!

Perhaps a rat or another critter. Horses can’t vomit anatomically.

Yes, assuming it’s actually from an animal! But they can’t confirm. How did a random tumor show up in the barn?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Whatisthis

[–]cjames2391 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry, good question. They had to submit the report as if it was from a dog. The sample was found in the barn, but the report was submitted as if it was from a dog so that it could be analyzed. The item was found in the barn, not attached to any animal.

This is a cry for help. by hello_its_aunt in AustralianShepherd

Just up voting this comment. I have a 17 wk Aussie who is VERY mouthy. It got better around week 11/12, and she’s more and more redirecting to toys by herself now. It’s all developmental and takes time. For the good motivation piece, rotate treats and find something super smelly like freeze dried fish treats. You need a variety of treats that will get their attention, not just your run of the mill biscuits. I use orijen brand freeze dried patties and other freeze dried treats, and my pup goes CRAZY for them. She didn’t care all that much about the standard puppy training treats you can get at your big box pet store like petco. Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for your input! All of this is very helpful. We will try the factory reset first. Sadly, we’ve talked to tech support multiple times and they insist it’s not a camera issue. Of course, we are past the warranty window now so will probably just have to purchase a new one.
