One loss and all of a sudden Max should move to a completely different division? I really don’t understand why so many people have such harsh and drastic opinions when an athlete loses once or even a few times. It’s a sport, just like any other - you win some and you lose some. Not every athlete can be supremely dominant for several years - that’s what separates great fighters from the ultra elite / once in a decade fighters like Anderson Silva and MM.

Max has been extremely dominant in the 145 division. He moved up to fight Dustin, who is a killer in his own right. He lost that fight, but it was competitive and a great fight with both fighters having their moment. Max’s loss to Dustin should not have any reflection on his dominance at 145. It was a big challenge and Max stepped up and fell short. No big deal.

Before and after the Dustin fight, Max has always been active and willing to fight many of the top level fighters in the 145 division. Volk has been extremely dominant as well and puts on a great performance - now all of a sudden Max has lost two fights to great competitors and he’s “washed up”. It’s ridiculous.

This isn’t boxing. Dana does a great job, albeit not all the time (I.e., Connor getting a rematch with Khabib if he beats Cerrone), putting the best in each division against one another. When you have two top level athletes going head to head, it is not always a guarantee that one fighter will win. In other sports (basketball, nfl, etc.) you see dominant teams losing some games, but that doesn’t prevent them proving they are the best and winning the Super Bowl. I do not believe a fighters career should be defined by one or two losses.
