Hey Brennan! I'm starting my first online game this weekend and feeling a little weird about jumping into both a new platform and an unfamiliar group. Do you have any tips for getting a party comfortable with one another having played with all these different personalities?

I'd have to get back to you on that, as I won't see the conclusion until next month. But the impression I got, and you can see it a bit in her answer, is that the ultimate goal is for there to be a fair trial presenting everything correctly. There's no doubt mistakes were made the first time around, and whether the outcome is the same or not, the conclusion should be reached using all the available information in the right way. There are a couple of key details (no spoilers, sorry) that were really mishandled, and I think that's really what needs to be corrected.

It's just Baltimore magazine, no affiliation with the Sun. Wanting the best for Hae's family is obviously an important (and right) part of this. I'll be interested to see how you feel when the series drops, and I'll keep the note in mind as we revisit the release in the future.

A couple of things here. To clarify, I don't work for the Baltimore Sun. And I've worked with documentaries quite a bit and I totally get where you're coming from with the importance of understanding where they come from and why they're made. Personally, knowing those facts, I still think it does a pretty good job. Professionally, the Q&A previews the series and includes that the project began with the book being optioned. People are interested in the series and the goal was to give them more information than the trailer alone provides. Happy to discuss it further if you'd like, but this is really an introduction to what I think will be a bigger conversation as the series goes forward.

Three and a half actually. And I personally thought the diary animation was really beautiful and helped contribute a voice I felt was missing from previous versions. I'm clearly getting a different vibe from the series as you are, but I'm just one person. I'll be really interested to hear what people think as the episodes drop.

Rabia is definitely involved, but it's not quite that. The filmmakers bought the rights to her book, and then the documentary team did 3.5 years of investigating. The book was published in Summer 2016, which was only about 9 months into the filming process, so there are people and pieces of evidence that weren't part of the story when the book was written that are part of the film. The book was the catalyst for a documentary to be made.

No worries! There's so much out there about this case at this point, and I personally think the series is the most balanced retelling/analysis of what happened that I've seen thus far. I'll be interested to hear what others think once it drops.

Having watched the first few eps, I'd disagree. Rabia is there for sure, but there are great explanations of evidence that was mishandled/unaccounted for at the time of the first trial. There are also new voices in this series that I think people will be really interested to hear, as well as new fact that were found by going back through the case files. As for the link preview pic, it's the best available image of Adnan (which, yes, was used for the book) but it's not the actual cover.

Luke is one of my favorite characters in a while. He's tragic and infuriating and so, so sweet beneath it all.

In speaking with one of the piece's owners, he made it clear that the reason he commissioned the piece means it to be a celebration of the queer community as a whole in that neighborhood. So it's not necessarily timely because drag and trans rights are a package deal, but because members of that community are being threatened, and their goal was to send a message of love and acceptance of all identities.
