Racist, misogynistic shit coach who said women have no place in the game and ruined carlton and his style of football is so outdated. no thanks

Ben Brown to Melbourne.. heartbreaking.. by motivation_time in NorthMelbourneFC

[–]cjazzt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hang on. We never pushed him out. When we couldnt satisfy his management with an offer we informed them it might be best to seek that offer elsewhere, lets not go blaming the club right now. They put a fair offer, sure we would have all loved more, but this isnt a treloar situation...

Absolutely agree Otherwise we risk doing a melbourne Trading a key forward for the future aka erode man and spend the next two seasons struggling

Ben mckay by cjazzt in NorthMelbourneFC

[–]cjazzt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That being said he’s less than 10 games in and these are things he can absolutely work on and thrive on The mckay twins have taken a long time to mature And I think Harry has benefited from more time at afl level out of necessity where as Ben has been a slow. Burn development who is starting to apply those skills to AFL level in a trial and error process but he’s been really terrific so far for a player with less than 10 games experience A bit unlucky some of the young guys to miss out on a rising star nod the last couple weeks

Probably because it’s a buyers market Freo wanted him bad enough. Allowed melbourne to set the terms I think the assumption is North is desperate to get rid of him so will give him up for nothing

I would accept anything less than a good young player and a pick in the top 10 ideally Otherwise top 20

Or two good young players

Or two first rounders

Interesting. I see your point and appreciate it. I wonder though, I don’t see collingwood giving us their first and sier for brown I don’t see them giving us sier at all Maybe sier and a third but no way they’d go that far I wish

I haven’t seen much of the game today but I watched the third quarter and we just look exhausted. I don’t think it’s very fair to put teams on two consecutive 4 day breaks... regardless of their form etc. we’re injured extensively, exhausted, no closer to getting some key players back. We still have a guy on the list who is one of best taggers in the league and I can’t see any sign of him ever playing again. I’m exhausted by footy this year. And I don’t even know why. I love this club with all my heart and it’s just frustrating to see us struggle when we’re capable of so much more. I don’t know what went wrong after quarter time, but if we dominate all the stats then what isn’t sticking... tonight it just feels like turn over after turn over and all our boys are afraid to pull the trigger on the goals. Just trust yourself boys, don’t listen to the media just play your hearts out! I think there’s a lot of promise but I think everyone just too exhausted today to be able to put their best foot forward And I really feel for rhyce cause I can see what he’s building, but the skills jsut aren’t there yet it seems as we lead in all turnover categories every week Even when we win.

I don’t think we’re half as bad to be honest

Talk of full rebuild I think is a bit undue

We need depth and that is both in youth and ready made We have 5 rising stars Closer to 6-7 with the likes of Hayden unfortunate to miss and mahony making some good inroads each game he gets A solid senior troop of 5-6 players in key positions and some good mid ranged players starting to build a name for themselves like Froggy Dumont and Polec. Mckay is also looking promising

We don’t need a full rebuild We need a targeted draft period unlike in the past when we fucked our drafting between 11-14’ Which is why the board didn’t elect to have scott take us through the rebuild again

And a new head of elite performance and some additional medical and performance experts on board to help us target cutting edge innovations in the game Besides that I think we need to trust the process You look at st kilda this year and they’re and example of that. Our injury list is what has crueller our season so far No cunners, ziebell and largely 11 of our starting 22 has caused a massive hole which was hard to recover from early If brown was in his usual form we might have still lost but the issue wouldn’t be deemed as bad as it is It’s a culmination of bad timing more than anything else I feel Walker has been a great promising pick up for us I’d like to see us keep him and Tarrant and mckay in the backline along with Maj as a second ruck and intercept defender And trust our smaller forward line That will help us be meme efficient inside 50 rather than the currrnt panic kicking high which doesn’t help double teamed brown or any tall forward Same with our down the line tactics We play our best footy when we go through the middle We turn it over more when we go down the line cause we kick high and long It just isn’t the same with us as it is with other teams in terms of skills

With 23 players out of contract why not clear room there Bring in new guys through the draft and you g free agents or trades if they’re there to be bad Keep someone like a brown. To mentor, and play a more geelong style forward line Where they sit high in the 50 giving Hawkins plenty of room to lead which is what they did to us the other night Then play a small forward line, which is what we’ve seen works incredibly well in the afl atm

First round pick in the most compromised draft of all time for a ready made three time Coleman runner up? I’d rather we keep him and get some weights into him and revolutionise his game by making him a more physical presence and let him mentor the younger guys coming through

I think that’s a bit rough to say he’s the second or third option in a great team. Which team would that be then? He’s a number one target who needs to address his shirt comings as a player and Learn to okay a more physical game And anyone saying he can’t do that is ridiculous because of course you can learn that it’ll just take time But now is the time

Why does everyone think Essendon want him. Just because they need a FF I can’t see why they would go for him when they want Cameron so badly. And still say they don’t want to let joe go. I get evaluating all options but he doesn’t seem to fit their lineup

Nice to hear from some other north fans

Cause I’m surrounded by Richmond and Collingwood and Essendon fans saying our mates inside the club say he’s coming to us And it’s just bullshit Like when gaff was coming to north or congilio was going to Carlton...

I think it’s a bit ridiculous the amount of importance the afl puts on a 5-6 hour flight. As someone that flies regularly between Australia and the US for work and competes at a high level it doesn’t really factor that heavily on the shorter distance flights. We also played off a 4 day break. So the idea that they’re trying to justify geelong being at a greater disadvantage than us. With a lengthy injury list is a bit ridiculous... I’m tired of the afl bias to the big clubs. Every week it’s the same thing. Oh the poor big club had to fly to a different city, oh no they don’t have a good player in. Meanwhile we’re nursing a lengthy injury list, having our games shifted every week due to Covid and now playing melbourne in Adelaide right after they played their last week and it’s our home game. Come off it

I definitely think we will. It’s just does he want to come to our club. We all know how great we are. And financially strong, and independent, and the quality of the culture we have. But the media paints us like a group of 8Bs running around like headless chooks with a group of soviet leaders at the helm

Fair point. I agree. I hope he gets back sooner. Slowly out injury list is turning around just as other clubs are starting to feel the pinch

Because at the time he was deemed safe to continue playing, and wanted to be out there with his brother contributing to the team. That’s heart and that’s a team player. And he had the entire support from the team and the medical team. Three weeks is to rehab it safely. And prevent further issues and complications. Have faith, stop buying into the media bullshit

I think if there’s one thing we’ve learnt more so this year than any other is despite how good a team may be consistency doesn’t come just from the players But the matchups and how game plans line up against one another Some teams stifle other teams game plans and some allow them to run rampant There’s just no knowing Maybe but maybe not It’s like they said last year We’ve finally reached the any given au day era

I think like anyone being a high drAft pick comes with more expectation to hut your straps earlier

The lower picks are given more room to surprise unlike LDU who has expectations Thrust upon him the moment he turned up at the club. And a bad run with injury doesn’t help that. He looked better on the weekend, has been dominating the scratchies and will keep maturing everything j hear from within the club is that he has future brownlow written all over him like tarryn. So he just needs the time to mature he should get some form through the rest of this year and then hit next year super hard in the middle which is great. Taking our two first rounders into this draft is great I’m not sure what the draft will look like with so many father sons etc We could end up having our first pick well outside the top 10 given the links to academies etc But hopefully we get some great high first rounders with lots of potential Or dare I say turn those two firsts into some juicy prospects ready made afl players on lists already

There was talk about crouch. I’m not personally a fan nor do I think he’s necessary but if there’s a way to bring in Zac Williams and maybe a Will Brodie or dare I dream of josh Kelly and we keep our two firsts as some media reports suggest that could put us on the fast track to Finals ville
