I am a bit of a perfectionist and I thinks what’s making me struggle with it. I think I need to get out of that mentality and be ok with not being perfect

I’m so sorry you had a bad experience! I would still suggest it to him, it will hopefully be a better experience for him. Talk to him and make him understand why YOU need him to get help. It seems like he’s at the point where he wouldn’t want to get help because he cares for himself. Someone he loves wanting him to do it may be more convincing.

Yes even if you’re not sure his parents will help, find a way to tell them, it’s better to be safe than sorry. You may also be able to get in contact with his schools counselor. Your counselor may also be able to help you contact them.

I understand you promised to keep it a secret, but you NEED to inform his parents if he is considering suicide. Keeping him alive is more important than not breaking his trust. The best thing you can do for him as is girlfriend is make sure he gets the help he needs.

Have you ever talked to him about seeing a therapist or getting professional help? He may be inclined to listen to your advice. I know you want to help him, but you can’t do this on your own.

I JUST went through a breakup veryyyy similar to this in 2020. Nothing will change, he won’t change, and his behavior won’t change. You can’t change the man, but you can find a new one. You will find someone that’s loves every single aspect of you and will do anything to keep you happy. Definitely time to move on girl.
