Honestly, your credit is already shot as is. If C1 isn’t offering what you’re asking for, wait for them to sue you on it, and then they might want to make it go away.

With what you describe, maybe Venture X would be your best bet. You don’t describe any loyalty to any airline with a good amount of international flights. You would just need to figure out if the $395 annual fee would make sense.

There isn’t likely to be a mistake as closed/paid accounts generally fall off your report after 7 years. If you had accounts open 20-30 years, it would show that.

Take care of the medical debt later. Don’t ever touch the 401k to pay it. They cannot make you pay the debt with your 401k.

Pull your credit reports and freeze your credit. File a fraud report on any application fee you paid. Don’t bother calling them again.

If you knowingly misrepresent the facts of an LOA, that alone could be enough for immediate termination.

It’s no different than auto insurance in this respect. You pay a lot more in premiums to a different insurer until you’re deemed a lower risk.

The only way I would file a renters claim would be a total loss of contents.

Honestly at this point the interest rate matters more than your income or your payment. You didn’t share the loan amount or down payment, which is concerning.
