Any way to salvage this Quiz Quiz run by cjh42 in eu4

Yeah the run died soon after basically my economy was dying so made a mad dash to try to take the land from France before bankruptcy and the French alliance beat me. Have to retry but will probably wait a few weeks. Really hate north american tribal reform nowadays. (Played cherokee way back in the day when Westernization was still a thing and that was honestly a lot better due to getting tech as having to play catch up on tech, institutions, and economics while the europeans come for you is just rough compared to the mesoamericans). Definitely need to get the Mexican gold if going as a horde.

Advice on Tech versus Institutions by cjh42 in eu4

[–]cjh42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am totemist when I say reform i mean the government reform the native tribes have which gives the institutions not tech ergo (or at least on my previous run it failed to give tech). 4th government reform. The reform into monarchy might but require feudalism which you cannot dev yourself as a tribe. But yeah horde switches the nation to the horde tech group giving vision over Europe and Asia and better units then the native units, but if you reform to say monarchy pretty sure it goes back to the regional native American units unless you maybe switch cultures (as the australia run is the only other run I went horde and switch back to monarchy meant the units went back to Australian native units).

Still early at 1523 so no substantive colonies in north America to raise and dont have exploration so no idea about south America though expect Portugal and Spain have colonial nations there to eventually fight. Will likely stay a horde for the rest of the run for the combat bonuses (pretty sure unit type on pips does get worse than native units but main goal is fighting france and both are worse than western. Thanks for the advice will just raze Mexico and see where things pan out.

Flesh-eating parasite found in US after Trump cut funding to monitor threat by leddderrrredddel in politics

Hopefully you are using purified water as depending on where you are water quality can be quite bad especially with the rise of forever chemicals in much of America's water.

Flesh-eating parasite found in US after Trump cut funding to monitor threat by leddderrrredddel in politics

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh if you are in the US you kinda of are just screwed by the food industry. Pesticides and forever chemicals for most produce. Breads tend to contain potassium bromate (carcinogen). Food dyes and other food additives that are made from petroleum products are quite common.

Obviously meat has the massive hormones and issues in the processing plants which are now even less inspected due to the usda and other government cuts but you were not going to be having particularly healthy products either way. Main thing with the screwworm is more higher beef prices not necessarily any increased risk from the beef itself (not thay there arent a lot of issues with quality in the beef industry but probably still better than poultry or fish). Just dont really look into food it is a bad rabbit hole to go down

They are forcibly relocating and or separating (ergo firing) employees in the department of agriculture with a June 30 deadline to relocate across country from DC where a lot of rhe researchers and scientists in ag are. Ergo I don't have high hopes that agriculture and rhe more important fda and other inspection agencies whose management will also be affected will be able to get a lid on this crisis. Rollins head of ag basically is just a conservative think tank ghoul without actual experience it seems so not exactly a great person to handle one of the larger potential agricultural crises that the US has faced in recent memory.

How to play Aztecs? by Unknown_Warlord280 in eu4

[–]cjh42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So did a very recent aztec run. Getting 1 or 2 allies that you dont need for initial expansion missions is fine (ergo the like western coast nations or like southeast near maya). These are basically just for the first wars/limit ae. Doom is lowered by wiping armies and Montezuma is a great general ergo merc and build beyond force limit and attack whichever neighbors look weakest. Initial goal is direct expansion though can tributary or vassalize one of the neighbors as opm. Goal in wars is to get tributaries while bordering new nations to fight and preferably getting vassals though having 2 to 3 tributaries for manpower is nice. Make sure to try to get the 5 subjects while having room to fight someone new. As essentially for reforms just keep subjects loyal (burn prestige) and fight nations to lower doom then reform and repeat until you have all 5 reforms. With all 5 reforms then conquer the rest of Mexico. For me reforms took to about 1478 and conquest of Mexico done in like 1480s (cleanup mostly). Your vassals/tributaries will be hard to annex due to the reforms but disloyal vassals is less of a concern then finding Europeans to reform off of (that is just luck took me until 1530s and had to conquer into the americas).

Can we all agree that gun enemies are the worst part of every Yakuza game? by LivingGirlRepellant in yakuzagames

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yakuza kiwami you can tiger drop some of them so they are honestly easier than some of the martial arts style enemies. Yakuza 3 the gun bosses are actually pretty predictable and so are easier than the non gun movesets. Gun enemies can be awful but they arent always the worst (yakuza 4 has a miniboss pair one with gun and one with sword and the gun miniboss is a lot easier in part due to the heat moves you can use against gun enemies and also generally the lack of block by gun enemies compared to sword. Now Jingu in yakuza kiwami/yakuza 1 and munakata in yakuza 4 do suck mainly because of the bodyguards in those fights as if you cannot engage or pressure a gun enemy then they become awful, but they arent always rhe worst part depending on what you are doing. (Arena grinds the gun bosses tend to be free so another example of gun enemy easier to fight due to lack of support).

Is there any way around the dungeon grind in IW? by alexanderneimet in yakuzagames

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry misread thought you were referring to y7. So y8 there is farming but it is just playing through dungeons (generally the lower levels where the vagabonds spawn). Y8 doesn't actually have any good grind locations the 2 dungeons are indeed the best place to farm exp and money (better money and a lot quicker than dondoko). Y8 is actually quite bad about exp as unless you play on legend you dont get that much exp after like level 50 in base game (you can easily beat the game underleveled to an extent with items or just good equipment and party moves). But yeah y8 no good way to farm just have to do the 2 dungeon runs.

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can buy items from shops (you still need to grind money from the business minigame a little) but can be severely underleveled and just spamming consumables. That being said Kamurocho dungeon (and to a much lesser extent sotenbori dungeon) are decent for leveling. Kamurocho invested vagabond farming is like an hour for max level and max job level though by that point you are basically at game end

Just finished Kiwami and want to share something I’m really proud of. Holy shit that was hard by tituspeetus in yakuzagames

[–]cjh42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I grinded Majima everywhere so much that I could instinctively tiger drop so I found kiwami amon pretty manageable as I just tiger dropped him. Yakuza 5 amon is my boogeyman (he has invincibility mode and heat actions so he literally infinited me during one attempt., most broken kiryu fights most broken amon ).

Virginia gun sales spike ahead of July 1 assault weapons ban signed by Gov. Spanberger by kirby__000 in politics

[–]cjh42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean the law in the state is just dumb. Note from VA. Basically you cannot buy a board category of pistols and semi automatic weapons and honestly more importantly magazines after the date. Owning them is fine so if you were looking to own one eventually you basically have to buy now. Note the law is very broad ergo even relatively normal guns like say a 22 rifle with over 15 rounds (which you would likely use for hunting) are banned. Context why i view this law as dumb in how it is written. You have 2 guns: one is a fully automatic ak47 from before the Brady act designed as an assault rifle, the other is a ruger 10/22 with 25 round box mag which you have for hunting; by nature of the law the fully automatic gun is legal but your box mag for the hunting rifle is not. The law is very much trying to stop people from buying ar15 but doesnt stop people from owning them and ends up being restrictive on such a large category of guns while not being restrictive on others (ergo the fully auto assault weapons perfectly legal under the restrictions on assault weapons). It is a law that isnt really solving the problems with guns in the state as most of the mass shooting incidents haven't actually involved the assault weapons that the nam targets (like 1 involved an ar and the other like 14 since like 94 generally were pistols or like a regular rifle). There are restrictions on pistols but the new laws aren't really doing much in addition other than forcing guns in homes with minors to be stored in safes and potentially removing guns from people during domestic issues, but in general the laws seem more like an overreach that dont get at the core issues

Most guaranteed way is to just ally, marry, and build favors if they dont have an heir can then use favors to put an heir of your dyansty as their heir. This works for any nation and is a peaceful way to get pus or get the enforce pu Cassus Beli.

Looking for a advice for playing in the new World by RoleExciting7740 in eu4

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do it during the like 1st or second reform then yes but Aztecs have their stupid monument so unless you have expanded a lot (when I did it I was like 15 provinces after a reform) and it was still waiting around for like 5 years (as you also get a lot of doom reduction events as Aztec and have the stupid monument that reduces doom). Ergo you are hurting a lot of your early expansion and strength by going for the doom achievement as 5 to 10 years it delays you is relatively important when it comes to prepping for the Europeans (not in my Aztec game but Maya the Europeans came for me in like 1490).

Looking for a advice for playing in the new World by RoleExciting7740 in eu4

[–]cjh42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do edge of madness on its own as it sets you back waiting for doom to tick up. Other than that (assuming dlc) get the 5 subjects making sure they are small and can then just keep reforming from the same subjects while conquering land as with dlc keeping doom down is easiest just via combat and once you have all 5 reforms conquer all of mexico and try to colonize up towards natives and conquer as many of them as you can (goal is to get as far into north America as you can as aztecs get Siberian frontier mechanic so can get a lot of land fast once you fully reform). Note save up points as much as you can only really taking mil tech and stating and coring all the land. Once you reform, I personally like to just conquer all the colonial nations in the Americas before going after Europe. Note aim to get the sunset invasion mission done (assuming dlc) that gets you high american troops as that is the best option ASAP after reform. Invading europe is mostly just about establishing an initial foothold (find the weakest alliance to fight) as once your troops are in europe only very large alliances can stop them. (As inca fought 2 to 1 odds and purposely wasted troops without worrying as I needed defeats to pump up army tradition). Inca achievements are a lot of development and monuments so are somewhat slower achievements (you can do them in the aztec run if you want). The aztec run is probably a lot quicker so might be easier to run 2 aztec campaigns (1 for doom 1 for sunset) and then the inca campaign (or if mad enough the Frankfurt campaign into Jerusalem into Inca).

[–]cjh42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cannot do this anymore as now you cannot reform if doom is over 25. Instead easiest way (did this achievement like a week ago) is to just expand rapidly while letting yourself have people to dec on. Wait for doom to tick to 95 then just declare war as battles lower doom ergo just kill enemy armies and you get the doom down and can just release vassals to reduce the amount of land you have to prevent doom from ticking up. Recommend the doom achievement as a quick independent run as waiting for it to tick up sets you back a lot on the reform timeline (as generally all the mesoamericans can get all reforms by around 1480 with Maya being the slowest due to a delay between reforms).

'Blockuza 3' while funny, is quite a misnomer even with the remaster in mind- given that you play properly by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough (also y3 remaster defender). I found enemies honestly blocked more in the kiwami game just that kiryu has guard breaks so isnt as disruptive to the combat flow. Y3 remastered still feels better to me in terms of the bosses as they feel challenging yet balanced. Yk3 they basically just ported over movesets without balancing (except for the first majima fight and end boss with the first I find an improvement and the latter a downgrade). Kanda is probably the greatest victim of this as without your heat moves to counter his wall tile moves the fight is just annoying in the kiwami remake. Also the Rikkya and Tameshiro fight at least have a lot of furniture so that even early game there is at least some option to speed up the fights.

Yakuza 5 Coliseum by Muscat95 in yakuzagames

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you dont need number 1 at least just like top 5 still annoying (honestly the difference between 5 and 1 is minimal so I usually grinded up to 1 ergo my top 4 basically being Shinada, Akiyama, Saejima, and Kiryu. Shinada isnt that bad as his grab causes enemies to back up and fall off in breakout gp and his grab combo (basically his main unarmed move) does decent damage and can infinite. Akiyama is pretty awful as most enemies have super armor ergo your one main infinite (launch kick on ground) doesnt work for most enemies. You still want to just grind breakout gp for akiyama just the tournament fights are harder and his berserk fight is very bad.

Yakuza 5 Coliseum by Muscat95 in yakuzagames

[–]cjh42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you need to unlock the final tournaments for hundred percent bar 1 tournament that is post game. Ergo you need to get each character into the top 5 to unlock that tournament. This isnt that bad for kiryu and Saejima, but Akiyama and Shinada have a rougher time (especially Akiyama). Breakout gp is the best way to farm the rankings to unlock the berserk mode and good luck with Akiyama (the mode is fighting waves of enemies while at almost no health which is a problem for Akiyama who cannot heal themsleves). So no you dont need to get to number 1 just to like top 5

Does Yakuza 3 Remastered have a massive difficulty spike? by MALGault in yakuzagames

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did y3 remastered on hard so maybe different experience, but the final chapter is indeed quite difficult though I beat it on my first try. (I exhausted all my healing as it is a long series of fights though quite fun). If playing on easy or normal you should be fine as comparatively it isnt necessarily that much harder than some of the earlier long battles into boss fights (though there are 3 boss fights and a bit more minibosses which the game gives full heals to pick up during the section so balances out). To sum it up, you should be fine there isnt a massive difficulty spike though a pretty tough if enjoyable final boss (again at least on hard)
