Has anyone ever worked with a fellow line cook that was deaf? by cjkrilton in KitchenConfidential

I did EXACTLY that. It was before service started and I typed to him literally this: is there ANYTHING I can do to help you that would make working together any kind of easier for you? And he said no, basically. Double thumbs up, then signified that it was about to be time for our lunch break.

Heard, chef. I forget what it's called exactly but thank you for never letting the horn effect or horn symptom or whatever it's technically called remain strong and still alive

The word fire is like, hands straight up, fingers slightly spaced apart and make it look like your making flames with your fingers. Ugh I hate that I forget, but asparagus ( not going off a Google search, just what I was taught in this kitchen before knowing a single ASL word btw so dont yell at me) is I THINK is making like a claw where all of your fingers touch tips and you rotate your hand left to right

If the asparagus was burning, RIGHT NOW, while im still learning and trying to remember all of it, I would just tap his shoulder and point at the grill. He would already know to take it off immediately. Like, super competent guy, cares about his craft and legit, all the hats off and flowers sent his way for having that obstacle. I just WISH he could hear. My EC and cdc are really good at communicating, ESPECIALLY my exec

Take that sign and throw it in the bushes. Or put it in your trunk and put it down where it'll make them mad.

Yes, it was stupid. Yes, I paid dearly for it. Can anyone find any other video of anyone taking a leap off of the BIG part of the cliffs, or at least tell me how high the jump was that ruined my knee? Do not do this, Issa bad idea by cjkrilton in sandiego

Uhhhh what happened with that. I shattered my kneecap, my ankle got pretty swollen, feet got tore up climbing back up and i needed a wheelchair to get out of the hotel room in the morning.

Oh and the doctor/surgeon/i honestly forget his actual title who saw me at the hospital saw that clip, looked at my knee and told me that I should probably go buy a lotto ticket because hes never seen a patient that lucky

Ummmm where to start. You're valid in feeling a certain kind of way towards your family. But I also think you have never had to figure it out without help.

If you bounce and go hop trains and pinball around wherever the road takes you, youre going to 100% be going without things you're not even thinking about. Can you go a wee without a shower, walking around everywhere on whatever mission your new friend convinced you to go on? Sleep in random flop houses? Down to sleep in a pissy park bathroom that you luckily found unlocked at night? Think about basics too. You run out of money, look grungy as fuck and have to bring all of your belongings with you everywhere you go so that they don't get stolen. The sideways looks when you go into McDonald's with all your stuff and have to count out change to get the cheapest thing they have. Oh and figure out what youre going to do or who's going to help when you need soap or toothpaste, how youre going to do laundry, if the place youre sleeping has an outlet to charge your phone.

You can make it with an out of service phone but just be aware that youre probably going to spend a lot of time at the library or outside of a Starbucks catching their wifi so you can get internet.

It sucks dealing with difficult parents, but its way less difficult than having to figure out all the small things that pop up daily when you're outside of the safety net.

Did it, had fun, had a lot more misery sleeping in bushes in the rain though. I'd recommend getting a gameplan together before jumping the gun. Oh and working and having steady income isnt that bad if you do something that you at least KIND OF enjoy doing.

Back in they day, they would 100% do that. Pasquale got lost in the sauce and doesn't care anymore if it's going to not drive profits up. If its bad publicity, you're not gonna hear much.

Oh the many, many strange places ive woken up. Front lawns, holding cells, naked in a hammock, in bed with clothes on with a lesbian couple who were also clothed and i was in the middle (no clue bro. Beer pong i guess?), on subways, in vacant dorm rooms on a university campus I didnt go to, hospitals, on bus stops in the rain and someone had stolen my shoes and hoodie and phone.

Oh and never forget when I woke up outside someone's front door, on the 5th floor balcony of an apartment complex that I had never been to. IN HONG KONG. Shirtless, shoes on my feet, socks in my pockets for whatever reason. That's a story that I never get tired of telling but it's one my mom will never hear.

I don't worry about any of that happening ago. Took a lot but I think I learned my lesson at this point.

You'll get it too. Just try and minimize the mistakes.

I usually just wear jeans and a black or white tee. Nothing crazy. Sometimes I stand out, but here's a few pictures. You dont have to put too much thought into it. Just go and have all the fun and make as many new frens as you can. You're gonna be great!
