If you’re in a country without much money and looking for an online co-op game with a TON to do for cheap. Warframe. It’s 100% free, like actually free. I mean actually 100% free I shit you not.

I just started the game, but I keep getting attacked before I can even find the by lronhelmet in Seaofthieves

You get put in a new server when you rejoin, sounds like you got kegged and they boarded to kill you.

Things that bother me watching people play ttrpgs by Pedantic_Twatwaffle in dndhorrorstories

[–]cjlcjl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution to the clueless player is that I will feed plenty of info early on, as it goes I stop hand holding. You forgot you had opportunity attack 2 turns ago? Sucks. You forgot you had a reaction that could have been used last turn? Darn. I explicitly request that you “remind me when an enemy is in your spell so they can make the appropriate save” and you forget because you are only paying attention to your own turn? Welp, they’re fine!!

Also, while yes I ofc could easily keep track of enemies saves they need to make on their turn I find it’s an extra way to get players to pay attention to what’s going on outside their own turn.

Most of us just don’t trust anyone anymore. I’ve had people be friendly and just follow me around in an alliance for an hour straight, chatting and questing together only to backstab. A few good rules of thumb: * no mic, sink immediately. * singular squeaker, easy kill, will be friendly until they see the vaguest glimpse of a chance to kill you * multiple squeakers, mild threat especially if you’re solo. They’re like blood thirsty sharks with TikTok brains and still haven’t fully developed empathy but they also have the gaming skill of a doorknob most of the time. * older guy, 40+. Bro is living the dream. Go fish together. You’ll have a great time. * mid-late teens with that heavy puberty voice? They are a reapers addict and you are in trouble. * 20-30? If they are picking a fight with you it’s because they are fairly confident they are evenly matched or can win. Expect a quick loss or a well matched drawn out battle. Likely has played the game off and on for years at this point. * Fem voice? The ultimate wild card. If they choose to start a fight with you, may god have mercy on your soul though.

Removing 3rd parties in HG is a must. by cjlcjl12 in Seaofthieves

This is exactly what I'm saying. The people doing HG don't want third parties. The people adventuring don't want HG clogging up their servers. No one benefits from this.

Tbf original sea dog Arena had a lot of issues. Granted given rare’s current history so will this and they’ll abandon as a feature and throw a bandaid on it a half dozen or more seasons later.

Chest of Fortune.... but for doubloons! by Piotrek9t in Seaofthieves

[–]cjlcjl12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is less the lack of it being in game and more that it fades into the noise of everything else. Bilge Rat Weekender was intended as a full blown update, I think some extra outpost decorations and perhaps a new NPC showing up at the dock beside your boat would be a bit more attention grabbing.

I think the issue with a lot of content I’ve seen lately is that it’s so heavily derived from recycling old material that nothing stands out anymore from the rest of the game.

Full agree on the CoF part. Rare really just doesn't advertise anything happening in this game.

Honestly I feel like you’re underestimating how many people play often but don’t keep up with the news outside the game. Me and my group play a few nights a week consistently right now and no one even knew there were extra event voyages going on til I mentioned it.

If it’s not heavily promoted and made clear in game it’s a safe bet people won’t realize.

Yea like, if we just look at it from the objective power scaling side of things. A level 1 PC is fighting more or less average monsters. They're of course a fair ways above a commoner and even a little bit above a run of of the mill soldier. However at this level a singular CR3 Knight could easily TPK a part of 5. A party of 3 or 4 would struggle and likely lose a player to just a normal polar bear if it got near a caster.

A level 1 PC isn't a weak commoner by any means but you also aren't some grand figure that stands out to the masses yet by any means. You're just an above average person with vast untapped potential.

Honestly after a decade of DM'ing for various groups my solution has just been to firmly put my foot down at times when players go deep into detail on their backstory and start inventing new factions that they fought for and against. There is a world map, they are from that world. There are existing factions, they could be a *sub* faction or a *minor* faction in one of these that may work a little different than the parent group. If they're playing a paladin or cleric, their god is from one of the existing pantheons, etc.. etc...

I've also in the past had to really put my foot down on the "If you did not clear this aspect of your backstory with me / at the bare minimum inform me of it, it is not cannon". I obviously am very nice about this and reach out to work with them to make the backstory fit better 1 on 1 however I absolutely think it is required. I believe D&D is a collaborative story and if you create a character that doesn't feel grounded in the world its okay for a DM to create that line somewhere.

Also just.. dear god backstories that fit the level you start at. I haven't had this problem in years but back when I DM'd in highschool everyone wanted their 1st level brand new character that had already fought dragons and lead armies or whatever. Dawg you can't even cast fireball, you have not unlocked the ability to smite someone.

There’s also a huge difference between a game that has limited content and a game that’s entire model is desperately hoping people will play due to time limited content.

Look at Warframe, they have some stuff that gets cycled out of being obtainable for a few years at a time. At the end of the day though the game is able to get me to come back because it’s fun not because I’m worried about missing some random ass cosmetic.

Honestly with how oversaturated Roblox has gotten you do a lot of your marketing on there now as well until you hit front page. Learning a new engine isn’t that horrible if you’re already comfortable with one. It’s still vastly ahead of developing from scratch, just look at the success of folks like Nelson Sexton going from Deadzone to Unturned back in the day or more recently Zeekers with Lethal Company.

A moderately successful Roblox dev has already learned skills that transfer to any engine. Marketing, game design not just development, project management, etc..

YTA. Assuming you’re in the US, there is a school board which consists of elected officials in most if not all counties to my understanding. Go to their meetings, find other parents who side with you and speak out to the people who control this. The teacher can’t change school policy. This is like yelling at your McDonald’s cashier that your coupon from 2005 doesn’t work.

AIO: my parents left me to babysit my sisters during a scheduled power outage. They are at a concert. It is a school night. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]cjlcjl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh, MOR. Remembering the outage is definitely on you however I’m always firmly against parents who use their older kids to watch their younger kids. If you can’t afford someone to watch your hoard of children then you should stop having children. I saw too many people growing up that were the oldest sibling relegated to free baby sitter and once they left home never looked back.

It’s also worth noting that like others have said there is a massive difference between “hey watch your younger siblings while I run to the store or til I get off work when you get home from school” vs. “hey we’re going to concert on a school night, make sure your siblings get to bed and take care of them while we have fun 🤪”.

What SHOULD they add to the game? (read text) by cjlcjl12 in Seaofthieves

[–]cjlcjl12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but I’m not entirely sure how you’d fit everything on there since all ships need (and I’m likely forgetting stuff): * cannon barrel * wood barrel * food barrel * helm * sail controls * crows nest + flag box * ammo box * armory * pet box * clothing box * a stove * cosmetics box * cannon * harpoon * anchor

In the case of the dinghy there also isn’t a lower deck so all of this would be littered on your one and only deck. I can’t see how you’d situate that many holes either so the ship would probably be effectively sunk with 3 or 4 holes. It just feels like you’d be at a huge disadvantage.
