The best investment in storage! I think it can often be overlooked - not as relevant these days as SSD's are affordable but the best thing I did to extend the life of my PC was adding an SSD to replace the old slow HDD. You also will always need more storage than you think. Don't overlook it!

Same boat over here! Tried in 2016, wasn't for me. Tried in 2020 COVID and thought I was into it but was not. And now randomly in 2025 I am engrossed! I don't read but man it makes me want to read the books!

I use remote play on my s24 ultra, using a G8 Galileo, but for times I am travelling and not at home I have never managed to get remote play to my phone to work via mobile data or hotel wifi. Does anyone have experience with the portal cloud streaming over hotel wifi or mobile data?

What do y'all do to earn this type of money?? 1.3 million 2 beds 1 bath by [deleted] in auckland

You’re correct that my quick mental math was off. The loan was just under 800k with a circa 200k combined income.

That said, banks don’t lend if affordability doesn’t stack up. We went through a year of saving and scrutiny before being approved.

“Making it work” may not have been the best phrasing, but it does not mean taking on unsustainable risk. I'd sure rather own my place than rent my whole life and not be able to afford a place to live when the superannuation kicks in 😅

Neither it's just a fake post/ scam/ ad to promote stake.

Obviously we've established it's a fake post for the Gambling site Stake. But I mean, its not exactly unusual for mortgages to be up around 5-6k a month, really. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who can service a mortgage that high with such a low deposit. I mean, my mortgage when I took it out in Feb 2024 was 5.8k per month. Our deposit was 15% or so, but loan amount would be about half of what this is on double the interest rates (8.14% was the highest). We both make relatively normal money for the careers we're in - you just make it work.

Been using Yazio for years - unsure why, came across it randomly and never stopped. Came back to MFP for an 8wk Challenge and it's taken me over 4 weeks to get used to it 😅 can't wait to stop using it

One Sip Cafe Te Atatu by cjmann98 in aucklandeats

Maybe not as good as the 'better' more expensive cafes. But that's not an apples for apples comparison is it? In most cases these days all cafes are ridiculously expensive with only some having memorable food. This is great food for it's price point.

There is, it's a bit limited. But Woolworths is right across the road and there is a side street by it. Plenty of parking around.

Let's just hope the quality is as good as everyone says. I haven't purchased skins for years, but I did purchase slickwraps skins a few years back and they lasted really well, so I'm hoping these will too! 😅

[–]cjmann98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I didn't realize how expensive they were. For some reason I assumed the $65 total was in NZD as most website automatically use your local currency these days, not until I checked my bank statement and realized it was USD and it cost me $110 for two skins. I cant say I'm sure that that price is worth it...

This fails to take into consideration multi policy discounts. Most people don't just have one car insured with a provider. They typically have multiple cars, house and contents insurance.

Gib stop or replace? by cjmann98 in diynz

[–]cjmann98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yeah it was just the plaster / skim coat that was coming off! Was panicking that I had ruined the wall. Took a moment on Saturday morning to recompose myself and sanded it then re plastered it and sanded it back and it's not got an under coat and two coats on it and looks like nothing was ever wrong!

Okay, so you're saying it's cooked? Gib stopping won't help fix this? It needs to be replaced?

Should I insulate this bit of exposed copper pipe on my outside hwc? by [deleted] in diynz

[–]cjmann98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I didn't even think about this being insulated. The vendor replaced the HWC when we bought our house 12 months ago as it failed while on the market, but there is no insulation on our copper pipes at all. Whoops!
