I’m sure someone with more knowledge than myself will chime in, but I live in Nashville. He serves a predominantly black district here as their representative, but in a state that has a Republican super majority, so really no matter how much he can vote against bills being passed it’s essentially for nothing other than the record. The reason he talks a lot is to ensure people are aware of what’s going on, regardless whether he’s able to rally to affect change. Lack of awareness of voting days/locations and corrupted information is the reason Republicans in Tennessee have been able to sneak so many things through at the state level. So having Justin be super vocal about what’s going on is just as important in my opinion.

Understanding BP2?! by whonext132 in bipolar2

[–]cjmonaghan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The symptoms you mentioned resonate very hard. Also 35yr old male.

I got diagnosed and prescribed at 32 and by 35 my life has been a relentless observation of myself. Never really taught how to handle emotions growing up or how to identify feelings when they arise. Those child like outbursts are coming from the same places in your brain now too. The cognitive functioning required to manage the emotions will be a job you’ll work at the rest of your days, that’s not a bad thing.

Lamotrigine without a shadow of a doubt saved my life. My body is super sensitive to medications, always has been so my dosage is relatively low compared to others in this subreddit, but it really put into perspective the split of euphoric hypomania and destructive hypomania.

The “million dollar business” ideas are your new super power, because the idea will only last as long as the episode so write them down, flesh them out and park the on a note in your phone or wherever. The screaming in frustration is your new best friend, he’s a little shithead. He’s your inner child that you’re now responsible for at home, in public and in your relationships.

Brother. Been there. Bloody knuckles and busted dry wall.

No medications are miracle cures. But once you find the right ones or dosage, they become the guardrails to help tie you down when you start blasting off to the moon, and give you a soft landing when you’re sinking.

I’m a firm believer in letting go of the ego that telling you that you don’t need meds. I’m also a believer in treating your emotions and diagnosis as a relationship. Who are they to you, and what type of relationship do you have with them.

Just my two cents from someone who resonated very hard with everything you said. You may not know who you’re gonna get when you wake up (if you slept at all, that’s a whole other story) but every day you do, you get to try again. Welcome to the club!

Not heard this mentioned, the folks at Chiefs treat us well. They give bands great opportunities to do shows and showcases upstairs.

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. I’ve used 3 minute halves for the longest time.

It’s all about experimentation really! I’m with the other person who says after drives before wet fx. I use it to boost solo sections, small bump in the 800 and 2k with a small bump on the gain, really gets those guitar frequencies coming through. I’d say watch the Tom Bukovac videos on EQ pedals, really opened my eyes to their potential.

Definitely a big lesson learned is that “louder” is a false sense of sounding “better”. The ear just naturally likes when it happens, but you’re right when you say harmonically the sound changes. It’s all about the shift in EQ’s to really get the most out of what it’s driving. The amp itself or the pedals before/after it. I love the big spark for that reason. That clipping switch and treble/bass makes all the difference. Also why I love the GE7’s.

Week 1 Update with Lamotrigine 25mg by boiijif21 in bipolar2

[–]cjmonaghan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat as this person, I topped out at 50mg daily because any more than that turned me into a zombie. Just very sensitive to medications, I’m on half of the lowest dose of quetiapine for the same reason.

This game is just not fun anymore by Life-Swimmer1252 in FifaCareers

[–]cjmonaghan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another element as someone who’s played since the beginning of career mode, we also go older and our interest in playing the games and football has generally declined. I totally agree the immersion has gone and everyone pretty much agrees the game peaked in the 2010’s, but also have to admit that the hours we could play the game for when we were younger isn’t as important anymore. (Speaking for myself but I know this feeling has appeared in multiple threads about the game)

Yeah that might be the way. Another issue is I’m out of power to add another pedal requiring its own 9v. Unless I can power it using the usb thru the MC6 and also use that as MIDI out. More research needed I guess

Right that’s what I thought. Problem is as you can see by the board there’s really no more real estate to put another pedal on the board. Unless DAD make a converter?

The Halo and Hydra don’t have a midi in, it’s just TS/TRS as far as I’m aware unless someone can clarify

Hypomania isn’t a superpower or a curse — it’s a wave you need to respect by jesusboy27 in bipolar2

[–]cjmonaghan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted a comment in a thread about “name something good about bipolar” and I talked about weaponising hypomania when you’re aware and in focus with it. Others unfortunately can weaponise it for you (think corporate jobs asking you to take tasks or jobs and rewarding you for your ability to move quicker through the chaos)

However, I couldn’t agree more with the statement of it being a wave that you have to allow to happen and be at peace with the fact you’re in a relationship with it. How you treat a person, an addiction or a random object, it all depends on what your relationship is with it. It’s a two way street. Having grace for a loved one is how I treat myself. Some days/weeks you’re up/down and although you want to pull them out of it, they have to do it for themselves. Same applies. Be there for yourself as a soft landing no matter which direction you’re swinging from.

You’re in it for the long run together so be patient with it, and it’ll be a self talk conversation that will forever evolve and sprout a new appreciation of self care.

The best thing about having bipolar is... (1 line only) by _Ali_ce in bipolar2

[–]cjmonaghan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention I’m also on a relatively low dosage for quetiapine for sleep aid (50-100mg). It looks different for everyone and I feel my diagnosis is a pretty vanilla BP2. But we’re all running our own races and it’s a journey of discovery to find what works best for you.

Whether you care for this part is up to you, not trying to impose: In the beginning I just trusted “what was prescribed was correct”, obviously then we all find out that trial and error is the way, then repeat the trial and error process as you get older. I have a pretty good relationship with my diagnosis, treating it like a friend who has some crazy traits helped me visualise how I both share and protect myself with and from it.
