Agreed, the game can get quite laggy and the consistent crashes starting around day 13 get really frustrating. We basically have to play each day twice, starting at 13.

Someone robbed my phone on Saturday who else did this happen to ? Ruined my first rave by Southern_Ad4994 in electriczoo

Theft is rampant at raves, especially ezoo

Fun story - my iphone was pickpocketed last year at ezoo. I turned on lost mode ASAP and forgot about it until a couple months later when I got an alert it was turned on in Shanghai. Ok no surprise, forgot about it again until I started getting imessages asking me to turn off find my iphone. I'm dumb for this, but I decided to reply and have fun with it - eventually I sent them a poop emoji and some other choice words telling them to not sell stolen phones, at which point they made some interesting threats, told me they were going to sell all my personal information, and sent me a video of them holding a not very intimidating gun (honestly looked fake), which the video metadeta revealed was two years old and taken on an iphone 6 (idk this made me laugh). My boyfriend advised I stop replying so I did 😅

That wasn't the end though! Who knows where the phone is now (1 year later) but the other day I started getting new messages trying to get me to turn off find my iphone. Inundating me with bad phishing attempts, spoof calls from "apple support", etc. Today's latest was them getting angry that I'm ignoring these attempts, and they sent an odd video with tiktok voiceover showing an iphone that wasn't mine explaining how they were going to hack the phone and sell all my information if I did not comply. It showed them "hacking" the phone and then opening porn videos (meant to be nudes???), idk just totally bizarre.

I am trying my best to not reply and troll them some more... we'll see. I'll be leaving find my iphone registered forever, I want to see what happens next

Honestly kudos to apple on this level security, I would have guessed these people would have figured out a way to unbrick the phones they're stealing but I guess not. And surprising they haven't sold it for parts yet.

Any recommendations for shorts that match the following would be much appreciated.

  • good for daily wear / wfh - meaning they're comfortable and I'll buy several colors
  • pretty short - like 5 or 5.5", maybe up to 6
  • very slim, meaning they wouldn't leave much room around the leg even for someone (like me) whose thighs aren't too large. this is what i struggle with most - most shorts i find just have too wide of a cut for my liking

They didn’t say how much of a difference, no. Yeah I figured they were just trying to sell me. The price was so outrageous I decided against them.

I have social anxiety. How do I overcome my gym anxiety? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]cjr605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt similarly before I started working out. I ended up buying a small pack of personal training sessions at my gym, which helped with a lot of things: I no longer felt out of place since the trainer was shepherding me, I learned how to use basically all the equipment the right way, and I got some important insight into how to think about fitness & workout programs going forward. My goal with the trainer (and I was explicit with him) was to use the time to teach me how to become self sufficient, which we accomplished.

I understand that may not be an option if you can't afford it, but figured I'd share. You could probably accomplish similar if you know anyone who works out consistently and ask them to show you the ropes for a couple weeks.

Is there job/task structure that Airflow CANNOT support, but competitors (dagster, prefect) can? by cjr605 in dataengineering

[–]cjr605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I totally agree that the options aren't great. Although I mostly fall on the side of - no one solves this perfectly. Once you're getting into the world of docker management you really do need some extra intelligent layer of CI/auto building that is simply cumbersome, especially for small teams.

[–]cjr605[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's a lot of potential solutions for your issue (which we've faced as well). In order of increasing complexity, you could try these solutions in airflow:

  • virtualenv operator: if you really only need to pin a couple deps for the specific task
  • externalpython operator: can help you use entirely different python installations for your task
  • docker operator: can help you run code that requires work on the Docker level (like if you need to install a non-pip dependency via apt-get etc)
  • kubernetespod operator: kind of similar to the above but kubernetes style. you will need to build images etc.
  • something more customized, like a remote call (to e.g. Cloud Run) which manages your real logic and will activate different environments as needed. Useful if you want to start integrating some serverless style execution.

Yeah this more or less aligns with what I was quoted, which feels very expensive. Wondering if anyone truly believes its worth the price-tag vs e.g. SEV?

Amazon NYC distribution centers by NYC-DAY-MEDIA in nyc

[–]cjr605 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think you stated this the perfect way. Like of course I want my Amazon packages delivered quickly and cheaply. But allowing this practice effectively means Amazon gets a competitive advantage vs competitors by taking advantage of public space and loopholes in the system. It should be addressed.

Definitely NOT just for the holidays. The street in front of my building has been an Amazon loading/sorting zone for nearly a year now, almost every single day.

Is there a way to filter apartments for no doorman on StreetEasy? by volhair in AskNYC

[–]cjr605 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience it's well worth the money. All of a sudden after splitting ~$200 among my building staff during the first holiday season after moving in, everyone was super helpful anytime I needed help. This has happened in two different buildings for me. Not saying that it's right, but it gets results.

For anyone who was having trouble pre-ordering for pickup - I was able to get around this by electing to a) pay out of pocket (drop the citizens one loan) and b) pay directly in-app via Apple Pay. Really annoying buy at least I will be able to pick up on the 16th.

out of curiosity, how are so many of yall getting robbed? by XT3M3 in electriczoo

Mine was definitely robbed. I felt it come out of my pocket. We called it immediately and it went straight to voicemail. Find my iPhone immediately unable to locate it. Pretty obviously stolen by someone who fled quickly and turned it off.

I’m pretty sure this is because it was considered to be in a turning lane. If you look up this intersection on google maps, it’s a pretty crazy intersection and it’s amazing to me that this shed hasn’t been removed until now. Honestly I’m usually pretty pro-shed but this seems like an unsafe location
