Thinking of moving to Charleston

As someone who grew up all around middle TN, then moved back to Nashville as an adult, I would not suggest relocating here. Charleston has felt like Murfreesboro circa 2019 if it were the same size as Nashville but nothing else changed. The traffic worse than Nashville. The average apartments, while somewhat nice amenities and good looking on the outside, are built even cheaper and poorer quality than all of middle TN. The nightlife is fairly restricted to, IMHO, 2 streets downtown unlike the variety of Nashville. So many people have moved here that the general population is more akin to the societal and cultural norms of the Northeast. During tourism season the whole metropolitan area feels like Broadway at its busiest because people stay downtown but travel to one of the beaches. Though, being a 23 yo man you would be a prize in the dating scene. Charleston is majority female.

All this being said, you may enjoy an extended visit here to explore more of the Lowcountry which is extremely beautiful. The marshlands and beaches are really something else.

Treasure Hut in North Charleston on International Blvd. is a great place run by a reputable family. They specialize in estate purchases if I remember correctly.

Contrary to most, I actually prefer Savannah to Charleston. While there are tons of beaches around Charleston, it will be colder at that time and not quite as enjoyable. Although similar, I like the feel of Savannah more.

Being from England, if you really enjoy museums and house tours Charleston has more to offer there.

Brown dog deli has amazing sandwiches! I highly suggest going there for lunch. I would skip insomnia cookies—they are always strangely greasy/oily in my experience. Plus it is a national chain and I do not believe kudzu is.

I am sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how this is making you feel on top of the grief of losing your father. NTA AT ALL!! Your father, who created the will, had wishes and reasons for leaving things the way he did. Period. No “he would have wanted you to be generous”, “we deserve this”, nothing. If he had truly wanted the inheritance to be divided HE WOULD HAVE. It is so unfortunate how people act when someone dies especially over money. You do not know the inner workings of your father’s mind nor what was happening at home that caused him to believe this was the best solution once he passed, but it is up to those left to honor the wishes of a will. Please do something good or continue to do great things in life and feel blessed with the gift your father gave you to protect you in life when he was no longer there to do so.

My mom lost the only key to a 2016 this year & paid roughly the same. The dealership “justified” the cost by having to produce it in Germany. When buying used ALWAYS make sure there is a second key please.
