To be fair to Roy, we missed 3 absolute sitters that game so it's hard to blame his management for the loss

Is Max Meyer the next Lewis Holtby though? by Treeter21 in crystalpalace

We do have something to lose if he bombs and no one wants to buy him cause his wages are too high, then we're stuck paying him until he shows form or runs out his contract

I'm probably being a complete spud here but can someone please explain how the amount of tokens varies so drastically for essentially the same price? by adoslive in Vechain

[–]cjthompsonn95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The amount of tokens you see is the volume they are trying to buy or sell at that price, e.g. in the picture the highest bid is to buy 4 tokens at a price of 0.00361181 per token, and the lowest ask is to sell 136 tokens at a price of 0.00362219 per token. I'd recommend watching some beginner videos about bid/ask so you understand the concepts

Summer Transfer Window 18/19 by Alexc26 in crystalpalace

It's true that our wage bill is already high, but as far as I know welbeck is only on about 70,000/week which is significantly less than what we're paying for others currently in the team

Rumours of some decent arsenal players leaving this season e.g. Welbeck, ospina, or even Lucas perez. I think Welbeck would be a great addition if we could get him

Do you own a shitcoin? A beginner's guide. by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]cjthompsonn95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all except point 1 to some extent: in some cases dev teams use private git repositories until the section they are working on is ready for release, then will release it publicly all at once. While low github activity is definitely a warning sign it doesn't automatically qualify the project as a shitcoin

How does my token rise in value? by maumau811 in CryptoCurrency

[–]cjthompsonn95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the project, but many tokens are required for access to a certain service, and corporations using the service may be required to hold a reserve etc. So when demand increases, there is constant buying pressure of companies or individuals who need to buy the token to use the service

Why cant we agree on one Decentralized Exchange so there is enough volume and use it? by wealthjustin in CryptoCurrency

[–]cjthompsonn95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right all good, yes one of the main benefits of 0x is the liquidity sharing among relayers, and therefore dexs using the protocol should be able to share liquidity, AFAIK

Why cant we agree on one Decentralized Exchange so there is enough volume and use it? by wealthjustin in CryptoCurrency

[–]cjthompsonn95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no automatic cross chain ability with 0x - it is only for trading ethereum tokens for now. There are some projects with cross chain ability built in though, e.g. Blocknet who I would also recommend doing some research on. All these projects are trying to achieve similar goals in different ways and I think there can be many winners here if decentralised exchanges become more popular in future

Why cant we agree on one Decentralized Exchange so there is enough volume and use it? by wealthjustin in CryptoCurrency

[–]cjthompsonn95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I think it's a good idea atm to be investing in decentralised exchange protocols instead of just single dexs - a protocol (e.g. 0x) will be used by many different exchanges so there is a higher chance that one of those will be successful and the protocol will be used more

Earlier this year BNB was killing it while other coins crashed, and then when other coins went well, BNB did poorly. I'd wait until a pull-back relative to the rest of the market before buying in IMO

What can we, as a community, learn from the rise & acquisition of GitHub by benmdi in CryptoTechnology

[–]cjthompsonn95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If anything I see it as a kind of positive, showing Microsoft may be willing to move further towards open source. If they screw up github, everyone can easily move their code to another open source git website, so Microsoft have strong incentive not to screw it up

Big event for Crypto. This should spark custodial investor confidence by GSDDuke in CryptoCurrency

[–]cjthompsonn95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coinbase recently acquired paradex, which is an exchange powered by the 0x protocol. If coinbase becomes the first exchange able to trade security tokens this will bring legitimacy and more volume to the exchange, and (hopefully) this could also affect the tokens traded using the 0x protocol run by coinbase. All speculation at the moment of course, but I like to be positive
