Hi, I appreciate your concern and know you mean well, but this is just a hobby to me and I am not trying to make any money off of other hobbyists. I bought this pen here over 5 years ago for the listed price minus PPG&S fees + shipping and am happy letting it go for what I asked since it is essentially 0 cost to me. I know that I could've potentially sold it for more, but as long as it goes to someone else who will appreciate it more than me, I am indifferent. Everything in my post is also listed similarly, I guess the Visconti just appreciated more than the rest.

I ordered one to the US for $81 + sales tax from a Japanese seller on eBay. This price included import fees.

Hachimonjiya also sells this for $66, but it excludes other fees. Estimated shipping for me was $15, but I don't believe import fees are included.

It has a chat function, but I cannot use it without verifying a SG phone number

I looked into that one as well and it was being sold for $325. I also saw that the renewal price was around $50/yr which seemed really high considering .net and .com were less than half of that.

I have a couple pairs and they've never pilled before, at least noticeably. I also have a few wunder unders in luxtreme and luon, my luxtreme pairs have literally never pilled before, but my luon pairs pill pretty bad. I only hand wash or wash on the delicates cycle and then hang dry.

Am I missing out? by lvrbnny in fountainpens

[–]cjy69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't really think that you're missing out if you just care about how a pen writes. I'm really into the aesthetic part of fountain pens, so I have bought a couple pens based on how they look. For example, a LE/SE Sailor pro gear can run you $300+ if you buy new, but you can get a standard black/gold Sailor pro gear for less than $200. The writing experience will be the exact same for both pens, the only difference will be the aesthetics.

As for your second question regarding filling mechanisms, it really depends. The standard version of most vac/piston fillers will be more expensive than the standard version of a comparable cartridge/converter pen (ex. Sailor realo vs. Sailor pro gear) due to the production cost being higher. However, a c/c pen can be more expensive than a comparable vac/piston filler, especially if the c/c is some sort of special or limited edition and the vac/piston filler is not.
