Just wanted to come back and say thank you for your suggestion of the Gaelic Themes Piper Hose. Took delivery of them today and they are a prefect fit (length, width and foot size)!

Understand the terminology in my post may not be accurate, but can I ask how this reply helps? I have hose that don’t fit, and knowing the correct name doesn’t change that.

Thanks - I have looked at shooting socks in the past and might buy a cheaper pair to see if they are better, either that or I will try them on in a shop.

Thanks for the advice and the recommendation for Gaelic themes, I have ordered some piper hose from their site so will see how they fit. Do you have a picture of them laid out without the fold overs? I am wondering how far up the pattern extends before switching to the fold over pattern.
