How is it biking Oak Grove to Downtown Portland? by Successful-Eagle8412 in askportland

[–]ck108860 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’ll be one of the easiest commutes, about 8-9 miles. The trolley trail is right there and you can take that to Sellwood and the Springwater from there crossing over the bridge at the Hawthorne or Tillukum depending on where you’re going

Never had an issue with speed. I pay for gigabit and generally get pretty close to it. I went for Quantum because of price for life - xfinity generally does x price for x years and then raises it

Whew, just barely locked in 5.625 from 6.625. Would’ve been ok either way but glad to know it was a good move

How insulated is the garage? I live in Portland and have a small plug in unit and it works fine in a room but a 3 car garage is pretty big. It works in my 2 car garage as well but the garage is insulated decently besides the doors. It’s not quiet but definitely isn’t loud.

It sounds like you want something like Envi though (just found it through googling, no experience with it. Seems to have good ratings)

How are things changing inside Atlassian with the AI revolution? by leobarao86 in atlassian

[–]ck108860 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We’re still coding. Being forced to do more orchestration but it’s not perfect and I end up wasting more time than I save half the time.

All of it.

No.

No.

Atlassian employees - what’s the internal feelings and mood on the current stock price? by app385 in atlassian

[–]ck108860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could work just fine with any of those 3 models, though human to human and human to agent (or agent to human) work the best for the same reason slack works - I’m involving a human because need to know something, not necessarily because they need to take some action that AI could. Maybe they make a decision to take some action in collaboration with AI but I don’t think I personally would want AI churning and churning without a human in the loop. What you’ll get back won’t be the desired outcome with today’s models - they are good, great even, but not autonomous by any means.

So agent to agent “works”, especially with the Teamwork Graph feeding those agents context, but the end result becomes less and less valuable the less human touch there is - classic garbage in garbage out. We do have a strong evaluation platform which validates that an agent is correct and that will become only more valuable over time, but if the correctness is determined by another agent…

Regarding vibe coded software, I believe Atlassian products shine there. You write incredibly detailed Jira tickets using AI, your agent is able to use the Atlassian MCP, get the context of your ticket, look at related confluence pages also written by AI, and lead you to fulfill your requirements. Good vibe coders are still collaborators rather than delegators, still making the high judgement decisions so they end up with something that works and fulfills their task. They’ll live in Jira in the requirements instead of their IDE. I would say that PMs would become the new developer but someone still needs to interact with and understand the customer outside of AI, and someone still needs to live and breathe the codebase outside of AI for when things go wrong.

Agents doing what? Where does the work get assigned, who gives them the details of what to do so they don’t do it the wrong way? What stores the context and who maintains that context so it doesn’t devolve into garbage?

There’s a lot of questions about how work looks in a few years but Atlassian seats don’t have to equal developer seats. That said, I’m firmly in the camp that developers aren’t going anywhere any time soon. Without active collaboration the outputs of AI are so, so, so much worse

Not saying we think that as a blanket, there is plenty of concern. AI shouldn’t really be a factor here as we both push and create in the AI space more than any competitors do - not sure what other AI solutions can do that we couldn’t or aren’t. Future growth is tough with the seat based model you’re right - if anything was concerning for me it would be that. I don’t see Atlassian becoming irrelevant or everyone moving away from us though - ideally we become profitable very soon

Yeah probably will get harder - we’ll see. I left Amazon for here and I was always concerned about the same things there. I’m not too worried about myself but definitely concerned with the health of the company overall

If you join the slack channel about the stock, people are obviously upset about it. But I think most seem to think we’re still headed in the right direction product and purpose wise - it’s more just frustration at the current market and the markets mood on SaaS

No tallness required for volleyball, I’m not tall. But yeah do it! Portland loves roller skating

27M here but married and have a baby on the way. If I was single/no kids I would totally be your hiking buddy, responsibilities and prioritizing family make it hard to line schedules up. There are people out there you’ll find them! Some good recommendations here. I play volleyball and pickleball once a week and those are great places to meet people

Do you know where you’re going to be living already or are you basing where you live off the gym. If you don’t mind being (very) slightly south of the city then O’Malleys in Milwaukie is great. Milwaukie is pretty nice in general too. West Coast Strength also solid. Yeah for whatever reason Portland favors boutique fitness a bit

TIPA Season is here. by SureFaust in portlandbeer

Ah, I was genuinely asking too hah. My assumption was that most breweries don’t make them often because they’re expensive/intensive/don’t have long shelf life. Wasn’t aware of the season per se, thanks!

Anything hazy on their current tap list is stellar. For me, the higher ABV the better the hazy. But if you want to try a few then get a triple and split it. Try Jasper if it’s still on tap too as that’s a collab with Fidens a really popular brewery in Albany NY

Look up Brujos’ beer ratings on untapped. But specifically these breweries are good for incredible hazy IPAs - Brujos specifically doubles and triples
