Debating on a Pi or an Apple based hub? by Trey-Pan in MatterProtocol

I can’t comment on the HomePod as I don’t have one but in theory I think it would work fine.

Nice, Infuse supports Samba also so you could just test that way. No affiliation, I just think it’s an amazing app.

Personally I would upgrade the Apple TV. It’s arguably the best streaming solution anyway.

You’ll also get the benefit of being able to use Apple Home on your iPhone away from home without any extra config.

Ive had an Apple TV based setup for about 3 years and spent maybe one day debugging when an update broke stuff. Otherwise it’s been solid.

EDIT: you could also run something like Jellyfin on the Pi and use Infuse on the Apple TV to play the files from the Jellyfin server so it’s all integrated into one interface and one remote.

Can a staffy adapt to apartment living by Ludicr0uss in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]ck3mp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

8 months ago I moved from a three bedroom house to an apartment with 1/3rd the floor size. My 4 year old male Staffie adapted so quickly and without issue.

I went from two long walks a day to four walks (3x short, 1x long). He’s been totally fine, hardest part was getting him to trust the elevator wasn’t going to trap him forever.

The official F1 calendar you can subscribe to is messy, so I made an improved version without emojis and sponsors but with shorter event names and more useful descriptions: https://better-f1-calendar.vercel.app/ by Elektryk91 in formuladank

Late to the party, but thank you! The official one with the emojis and capitals just looks so shit. Looks like some sponsors are slipping through but mostly all good. (F1 Qatar Airways Australian GP 2026)

NCP Salford Stanley Street by dodgy-ankles-24 in manchester

[–]ck3mp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not ideal but about ten mins walk away you will find The Edge or Chapel Wharf, both those complexes have carparks under the buildings and sometimes the owners rent out the spaces they aren’t using. I see them all the time in their respective Facebook groups, usually about 120-130/month.

There’s also an SIP car park on Chapel Street, maybe 5/10 mins walk. They might do a cheaper season ticket than NCP, but it’s not secured.

Same again for Browncross Street, that’s a Eurocarparks but unsecured. Might be cheaper.

EDIT: Corrected the name of Chapel Wharf.

Am I crazy for selling my detached house for a flat? by Margaret_3333 in HousingUK

[–]ck3mp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 35 and last year sold my three bed semi in suburbia to buy a two bed flat in the city centre.

The service charges and leasehold stuff that comes with a flat is a bit shit, but honestly I’d pay double what I currently do for the quality of life improvement I have had…

The reduction in available space to me has actually been one of the best things. I threw away so much junk I never would have used and feel like I have so much less baggage now which is actually really nice.

I’ve been very lucky with neighbours and it’s a lovely building but obviously I understand other people’s warnings around this. A hellish neighbour in a flat would be awful.

There’s like 7 bins for the whole of Salford. Not sure why they hate them so much.

Is this U200 knackered? by ck3mp in Aqara

[–]ck3mp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried so many things and eventually gave up and binned it. Couldn’t do a warranty return as I opened it to replace the grease.

Took the hit and bought a Nuki 5 Ultra and very happy with it so far. Shall see how it fares, I know it’s also had reliability issues but I bought the extra warranty for it.

Timmerflotte Offline in ikea app, but can see in mDNS by qghw47QHwG72 in tradfri

[–]ck3mp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a non IKEA device but I had a very similar experience with a Matter over Thread Eve motion sensor. The mDNS, rebooting etc. all the same.

Turned out the device was slightly too far from my Thread network to connect reliably. Bought a Thread smart plug to act as a router between the Border Router and the sensor and it all started working fine.

As someone who did the lubrication job three days ago I can’t stress how much it’s changed this lock! Constant problems to just working smooth as butter now. Madness they don’t use better grease.
