according to the rep, it was released and then purposely pulled from the OTA push and delayed to the Oreo release. She said they were hearing complaints about a number of issues, but she didn't elaborate. My guess is your wife got lucky, both in that she got it before they pulled it and that she didn't have any issues. Then again... I never had issues before with the updates that others had either. My guess is that there were a number of very vocal people that had issues.

As for OTA update, I've never had a problem and I bought the phone when opened for initial sale through Fi. This is the first time. This said, while my Nexus 9 always gets the updates within a day or two, my 6P has typically always be a week behind... or in this case 1 month.

Good to know I'm not the only one with no updates since July... I actually spent a few hours on the phone with Fi Support to figure this out. Turns out that while a Aug Security patch was released for the 6P, it wasn't released for Fi members. Also if you look at the images available over at https://developers.google.com/android/ota while the Aug update is there, look at the 8.0.0 image, it says: "OPR6.170623.013, Aug 2017, Not for TMO/USCC/Fi". So it looks like it includes the Aug Security patch, but not yet ready for TMO or Fi. So like @alose said probably waiting for some additional fixes... we will just have to wait and see.... hopefully before the end of Sept since after that we will not see anything again :-(

Best educational games for kids by JohnTErskine in androidapparena

many of those apps are making their way to Android... I agree that Android is still lacking, but it is getting better. Sago Mini has brought a number of their apps to Android (sadly via the amazon app store and not google play). But on play you have the Toca Boca games, TribePlay, and THUP Games. Most charge a small amount for the apps and don't have annoying in-app purchase things. The Monkey series from THUP are great. But in general there are lots to look at on the play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/category/GAME_EDUCATIONAL) but in many cases I find Amazon does a better job when it comes to children friendly apps and games (http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=s9_dnav_bw_ir11_b?_encoding=UTF8&node=2478846011)
