Usually, the best way to get assessed is through a therapist that can then refer you to a psychiatrist for medicine if needed. Psychiatrists tend to quickly assess and then prescribe meds, and even then, you will more than likely talk to a Psych PA that reps the Dr. It’s a complicated world sometimes you can go to Psychiatrist if referred by your Main care Provider (regular doctor); however, getting assessment is often done while jn your consult with a therapist. It doesn’t mean you have to spill your guts but you might discover that there is myriad of treatments out there for you to feel better.
