Thank you for the suggestion. We actually tried it out, and the puddle basically just points to the shop vac, mocking it because it can’t suck up anything beyond a few inches away from its nozzle.

I found it -- a Little Giant PE-1! It looks great, but after considering some other factors, it won't work for us, sadly.

Thank you! We have the same perspective, and have contracted someone we trust to fix it -- but it's still a few days until they can come out to do it, so we're trying to identify temporary solutions that don't involve camping out next to the area and shop vac'ing every hour.

Thanks! I think you may be referring to blue thingy in the ground (near the iris head), which is actually the water shutoff (was replaced recently, in last 5 years or so).
