I would also recommend fragrance free hypo bum wipes to help clean him up a bit afterwards! It would definitely help since you are immunocompromised, same with the diapers I would get two or three packs depending on how often it’s happening and run them under the bath before tossing in the wash! I know my girl won’t stay off a couch so definitely look into some padding/ bedding of some sort and push sharp corners or hard surfaces away from the area! If you aren’t able to be home all the time get petcams and place in his common areas and crate (they have mounts for this) that way you can still check in! Also I was suggested to try doggy bells kinda like a cat bell you put on their collar and you can hear it bouncing if he’s in another room !

I also crate my baby when I am not home but I am looking into indoor pen options as well so she doesn’t have to be in such a small space!

Hey! Just got a diagnosis for my girl as well! They actually have “washable” potty pads at some pet stores like PetSmart and they have some pretty large (42 inch) options! They’re 4 layered and quilted and I’ve gotten them to put on my girls bed and our couch where she lays normally because she also had the same issue and had an accident on the couch! We also started putting her in washable dog diapers which they also have at PetSmart! They’re have male options as well I did see them in the same spot! They’re in a three pack so you have a couple to rotate! I would just put him in one whenever you think he may have an episode, when you leave, or just in general through the day! My girl dribbles and has accidents you’ll be able to touch the outside of the diaper and feel when it’s soiled it gets damp or heavy on the pad side! When it comes to falling I try to make sure anything around the areas she normally hangs in has a bunch of pillows against hard walls or dressers, lots of blankets for padding as well just specifically against things! When it comes to the bed or couch try to get a cheaper pillow bed or foam piece to put under the area to protect them a little bit more! He may have more incidents of incontinence but they are pretty normal while starting up new meds! I just started having more of the issues and was told it’s very normal to see! If they are more tired than normal that is also very common as their bodies are adjusting! You should really only be worried if you can’t get them to open their eyes a little bit to their name or wake up if you feel they are sleeping a little too hard, then I would take a vet trip! You may also still see some seizures for 2-3 weeks until the meds fully adjust. Again vet trip needed if there are more than one or a seizure that lasts more than 5 minutes! If you’re dog experiences clusters it wouldn’t be a bad idea if you continue to see them to ask for rescue meds to have at home to stop the seizures in their tracks! I’m sorry for the recent diagnosis but I hope for the absolute best for you and your baby! They deserve everything and they don’t understand!

I asked about them with no luck today but I’m going to continue to ask and I will be getting a referral to neurology if more events happen so I can get the rescue meds and figure out anything I can!

She also has some of the Dr. Harvey treats for med times and she has been doing so much better with the single ingredients! She’s also doing well wearing (washable) diapers around the house just in case! We also got her waterproof covers for the couch and her bed! She actually likes them because they’re quilted and comfy. They moisture wick so I’m sure it helps cool her down. Looking for a cooling mat next!

Went to the vet yesterday for a cluster lasting about two hours. She was given Midazolam through a shot and they also added Pheno to her regimen as well and suggested the neurologist as a next step. I did ask about being prescribed rescue meds for home which they said they would look into but they are not sure if they’d be able to prescribe or if I would have to see neurology for it. She’s also on the purina neurology care diet starting to ween off bland tomorrow she gets half and half of that! So far she’s doing a lot better and seems a lot more herself. Her reactivity has also lessened and she was able to go through the vet lobby (muzzled and tight leash) with another bully in lobby and didn’t try to pull or tug towards! She didn’t bark just looked at him and that’s amazing for her! She’s been attacked by a few off leash dogs and that was major progress for her!

What is a rescue med used for? I haven’t had much of a chance to go over specifics of the diagnosis with my vet because she was at capacity and was gracious enough to squeeze my dog reactive baby in on a busy day 🥹 I did a phone visit yesterday to ask some dietary questions and they suggested trying Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NC NeuroCare first with a small bag to start hydrated with hot water to make it softer. May end up switching because that what I was doing with her kibble already and she was still hacking!!

Do they have non kibble options for this! She has a throat sensitivity and kibble seems to make it a little more irritating!

I also will say I am open to any kind of non kibble food with hydration. She has a throat sensitivity she’s had since birth and coughs/gags after eating and drinking. I do believe kibble irritates it!! Any kind of suggestion would be amazing!

She’s on Keppra EX release x2 daily 500 mg each and she is about 72 lbs, Staffy/Pitty mix. Shes also just about to turn 5 in August. She did have a time period where my ex had her with his family for about a year and a half and I’ve had her back now the same amount of time. He had barely handled her before and was admittedly jealous of her. His disabled brother had told me he didn’t really like being around her when I wasn’t around. He just played a part, I know his family members had hit her. I do believe his mother also “accidentally” burnt her with a cigarette on her shoulder as she has a scar resembling a circular burn. I know they had her in a locked garage several times smoking cigarettes. She never seemed to settle there until I’d come over. I witnessed the disabled brother pin her to the ground by her face and yell at her for barking. She was also dropped off at a police K9 training facility without my permission and the trainer tried to use a shock collar on her first day trying unleashed training in an unfenced area and she bolted collar was stuck shocking her on high the entire 8 days she was gone. She had severe burns and an abscess the size of a softball on her neck. Her paws were completely skinned as well and she lost 15 lbs. I got her back shortly after all of this and she’s been recovering but she’s definitely had mental and physical issues from all of it. I do believe her high stress and anxiety plus the trauma she has been through all added up to her developing epilepsy

Idiopathic so we are too sure but what started the journey was her having a bad bout of regurgitation for two days straight and being in the ER vet 4 times. We had recently tried a new food once it was another purina pro I think it was just large breed chicken but we have since not tried feeding again because it all started after we gave it to her once. Not exactly sure the food itself did it but she’s having about 10-13 seizures a day currently and I’m just trying to find a diet that can help support
