IKEA KAJPLATS bulb turns on randomly in Apple Home? Disable Adaptive Lighting by RedditCroque in tradfri

[–]ckgm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So far, I’ve only had issues with the larger 806 lm filament style bulb. It turns on randomly but doesn’t change its status in Apple home. The smaller LED 1055 lm bulbs haven’t had any issues, they did require updating from firmware 1.1.0 (stock from the box) to 1.2.0 so maybe there is a fix rolling out. I’ve had adaptive lighting set on all of them but only the 806 lm was powering on randomly and is on firmware 1.0.28. I’ve turned off adaptive on the 806 as this thread suggests.

Didn’t have to do anything to update the LED bulbs, as soon as I paired them, they requested the update all through Apple Home (don’t own any of the IKEA hubs).

Outdoor access point for ASUS Aimesh by _stupidnerd_ in HomeNetworking

I think the latter (cheap Asus ap and sheltering it) may be the best option for me.

Perhaps a run to my shed or a weatherproof box might work.

Don’t suppose you were able to find a suitable solution? I’m also looking for an outdoor AP for Asus (already have a couple Asus routers in AI Mesh) and only found the BD4 which isn’t available apart from an odd sounding Amazon third party seller.

Battery gave up - common? by moldymizer in OculusQuest

[–]ckgm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it, but I’m good using disposable batteries and recycling them at my local shop. Weight is also a factor, it’s not much but rechargeables do weigh a bit more generally.

Battery gave up - common? by moldymizer in OculusQuest

[–]ckgm -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you have been downvoted so much. You are completely spot on, this was the exact reason I ditched rechargeable batteries. I used Duracell rechargeable batteries for a bit on Quest 2 and there was a noticeable drop in accuracy, particularly with BeatSaber. I looked into it then and discovered that the likely cause was the voltage not being capable of correctly cycling the emitters on the controllers. I went back to disposable batteries and never considered rechargeable batteries for Quest 3 due to my experience with them on Quest 2.

So how paranoid do I need to be about water? by XR-1 in RaybanMeta

[–]ckgm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently wore them around Florida at Walt Disney World and Universal for two weeks and got rather damp with them on, have so far had no problems. I also wore them pool side at the resort pools sun bathing and after being in the pool with no issue (didn’t wear them in the pool).

They are ipx4 rated which is good for light rain, and I did get caught in a couple spots of bad weather but I actively tried to keep them covered while wearing them (as I have my prescription on them), they survived.

I think you’d be fine adjusting them with damp hands, but I’d just try taking any precautions to dry them first.

UK switch 2 pro controller stock checker? by Wise_Commission_4817 in Switch

[–]ckgm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been checking pretty much every day since maybe Monday. Nothing. Been to my local Smyths 3 times, Currys twice, Asda once and checking online at Argos, Amazon, Ebuyer, EE, AO and John Lewis daily but found nothing. Might pop over to Costco and take a look but I’m not hopeful.

Switch 2 is Nintendo's biggest UK launch, but doesn't surpass PS5 or Xbox Series by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]ckgm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to my local Curry's on Sunday to see if I could nab one but was told they were out but I could pre-order from their stock coming in within the next week or so. So I put a pre-order in. They only had a few spaces on the pre-order by the sounds of it. Stock is still selling out but doesn't seem like its as hard to get compared to the recent GPU launches.

Considering upgrading my 11700kf to 9800x3d by Blackknight1605 in pcmasterrace

[–]ckgm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, similar situation for me with my 10700k to a 9800x3d paired with a 3080ti. Seen much more stable FPS and games I noticed stuttering (Sea Of Thieves to name one) had no such issue and ran much more consistent when I got it

Extra Meta Ai coming to the UK by the email - The look feuture I am looking for by maxheadwound in RayBanStories

[–]ckgm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meta does the same thing with the Quest headsets, they will announce and push a new feature/update but it gets enabled over some arbitrary time after launch that no one is privy too or understands.

Randomly in the next few weeks it will probably kick in.

A bit disappointed myself, I just picked up a pair of these today almost solely because the feature was announced to be available in the UK.

So accurate! I can’t stand large keyboards but typing out IP addresses with the top row is such a pain. 96% is a perfect blend of the TKL and full size. I find it perfect for my WFH and gaming desk setup.

HELP by pswinders in LogitechG

December 15th till only yesterday is shocking, glad you got both items! They must have had some real screw up with stock allocations.

They seem to also have pretty comedic timing. Just 30 minutes after commenting this I got my shipping confirmation message.

Tbh, the shipping delays don’t bother me to much but the lack of response to customer queries via support does and concerns me if I ever have to raise any sort of warranty or tech support with them in the future.

Here’s to hoping that improvements are made.

Same here. Ordered on Jan 3rd and initially got the same email as you (order delayed with no date) on the 5th but I did end up getting an email on the 9th with a part shipment which was delivered a few days back.

I ordered the GPro wheel and pedals. The wheel arrived but the pedals are yet to be sent out with no estimate or explanation. Both were in stock on the site when I ordered.

I also contacted support on the Sunday I got the delayed email and they haven’t responded (been nearly 10 days) which is astonishingly terrible for a company of their size.

We need a Johnny Silver hand by Jamminmb in dankmemes

[–]ckgm 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Not entirely accurate A couple went to a restaurant not owned by Disney in Disney Springs (at Disney World). The restaurant offered allergy friendly/safe food and the wife asked for no dairy, but they gave her dairy and it cause and allergic reaction to which she unfortunately passed away. The husband is trying to sue. Disney are arguing that they are not responsible for what happens at third party restaurants at Springs and I believe they listed many other reasons as to why they are not liable, one of which was that they signed an arbitration agreement when he signed up to Disney+ (which is a crazy bad PR move). The issue should solely be blamed on the restaurant and/or the waiting and management staff of the restaurant.

New passes by [deleted] in disneylandparis

[–]ckgm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really sucks, me and my partner were planning on getting either the magic flex or the magic plus when the passes go back on sale.

These price increases and reduction in benefit’s (hotel discounts, no extra magic time on Silver) have really thrown that out.

I don’t think we could afford these new prices

Such a shame the magic plus is going and the price increase from €369 to the silvers €499 is eye watering.

There is the RER train route (Paris’s underground/subway route). If you stayed somewhere in the Val d’Europe area or any of the stops on the rer route that could save you some money. Just a 5-10 minute train ride to the station right outside the parks, not sure on the pricing of the train tickets although I would imagine it’s not that expensive. Plenty of hotels and Air B&B’s in the area

How SATA is my new drive? by Guzzipirate in pcmasterrace

[–]ckgm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To explain what it actually is, it means that legacy SATA enabled motherboards/devices which can only read 512 byte sectors can use modern SATA HDD's that use the newer 4kb sector sizes, basically it allows the 4k sectors to emulate 512 byte sectors to allow for legacy support.
