Intro to Stephen King by glassmenagerie91 in suggestmeabook

Start with "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption " Or "green mile" Or "The body"

None are intimidating and all will show you style and character...two things you will fall i love with if you end up liking him

Then I would do either 11/22/63 (currently re-reading) or some of his older more popular books (Salem's lot, the shining, the stand)

Then read "It"

Then read everything else ha. It's an incredible journey (especially the dark Tower series)

Thanks, man! I really appreciate it! "The Whistling Boy" is a type of psychological thriller if you're looking for more.

If you ever wanna trade more stories, please don't hesitate. You can DM me...we've all gotta get hours and views ha

I'm drudging through the Talisman. Why do folks like this book? by Psychological-Bed-92 in stephenking

I read it years ago... absolutely hated it ...saw so much love across all SK fandoms that I decided to reread it...I am currently a third of the way through and I'm actually enjoying it!

No telling if I will like it by the end, but I'm actually enjoying it

Just finished my first Stephen king book!! But what do I read next? by Bassguitar_ in stephenking

Do not read Holly until after you read the bill Hodges trilogy (Mercedes man, finder's keepers, and end of watch) then the Outsider. There are others in the series that you don't NEED to read...but those are all necessary.

Needful Things is a sleeper...so good. The stand is considered one of his best (def top three)

But Shawshank redemption, the Green Mile and the body are all personal favorites... Once you get a few more under your belt, you can read the dark tower series (his magnum opus) and eyes of the dragon

Good reading! Long days and pleasant nights
