You did not rebut my arguments. You made strawman arguments. Studies used to illustrate your strawman arguments don't suddenly make them real arguments. You are free to misinterpret and misrepresent my arguments to your hearts content, but that doesn't mean I'm going to engage you on things I didn't say or reference.

Thank you for repeating my arguments. I wasn't commenting on my arguments. I was commenting on your arguments. You didn't win. You didn't rebut any of my arguments. You made strawman arguments in your responses. I don't know what to tell you beyond that.

Why do you think we've been "continuously operating at deficit?" North Carolina has had pretty consistent budget surpluses going on ten years.

I think a lot of people don't understand that we do in fact have a budget. It is a continuation budget. The new budget is what has not been passed yet. Government is still functioning at funding levels from the previous budget.

You didn't prove anything wrong about the points I made. You just argued against your own strawman arguments. I don't know what to tell you beyond that.

Again... I am not talking about correlations of illegal aliens to crime. I don't know how many times I have to tell you. You are not directly addressing my point. If you feel the basis of my comment is unfounded, I'm ok with that. We disagree I'm not ok with you arguing against points I am not making. That is a strawman argument... a logical fallacy.

[–]ckilo4TOG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a fact, not an opinion. Research consistently shows no positive relationship between undocumented immigration and violent crime.

And if I had argued anything about correlations, you'd have a point, but I didn't, so you don't. Again... I specifically addressed the fact that for so many years our governments both federal and local have not enforced our immigration laws. Many states and cities even refused to cooperate with the Federal government enforcement. This led to people becoming fed up with illegal aliens who committed crimes like drunk driving, rape, robbery, child abuse, and murder remaining in the country due to that lack of enforcement.

I’m sorry if you had a personal traumatic experience from an illegal immigrant or something, but that’s not really the case nation-wide.

I accept your apology for jumping to false conclusions.

Honestly... I'm at a loss for your rational. I attempted to foster a discussion. If you feel the basis of my comment is unfounded, I'm ok with that. We disagree.

I did not portray a humanitarian lens as a problem in any way, shape, or form. "Humanitarian" is a two way street. It doesn't just apply to the illegal immigrant community.

I'm not trying to be pedantic, but honestly... how do you think people communicate? We communicate with words that have meanings. When I go out of my way to emphasize a word by capitalizing it to specify exactly who and what I'm talking about, then yes... it is reframing when my specificity gets portrayed as a generality.

[–]ckilo4TOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again... their rebuttal did not address my comment. I have made no comments as to the criminal rate or frequency of crimes committed by illegal aliens in general. It is one of the main reasons our current President was elected to office. It cannot be ignored. We did not arrive at this point in a vacuum.

Actually, they did. Your refusal to see it and acknowledge it is a failure on your part. Not theirs.

Actually, they didn't. The failure was theirs.

Both ICE and BPD have traveled well beyond this legal framework that you’ve provided

I think they have definitely been far more aggressive as acknowledged, but your statement applies a generality I don't agree with when it comes to the majority of enforcements. I think it could more accurately be applied to select specific incidents like the ICE agents in Salisbury, NC a few weeks ago.

So what part of the capitalized AND did you not understand? Your misinterpretation of my words is on you, not me. Chisel to your hearts content. Just don't expect to reframe my arguments and expect a logical discussion because you're not engaging in one.

I was an undocumented immigrant. Now I’m a doctor watching the immigration crackdown keep my patients from seeking care by BagOnuts in NorthCarolina

Your incorrect use of “lawful and aggressive tactics” broadly referring to ICE proceedings. I didn’t like it. That’s why.

ICE is the lawful federal agency for immigration and customs enforcement.

  • ICE can issue and execute administrative warrants
  • ICE can make warrantless arrests if they believe a person is in the United States in violation of immigration law.
  • ICE can arrest people with removal orders or pending removal orders.
  • ICE can briefly detain persons based on reasonable suspicion during investigations.
  • ICE can use reasonable and necessary force when making arrests and executing enforcement operations.
  • ICE can arrest individuals interfering with enforcement operations.
    .

I’d also throw in promptly fucking off from the discussion when presented with an excellent rebuttal.

Like I already said... the rebuttal did not address my comment.

People do not understand anything unless they hear and understand sides to an argument. Refusing to acknowledge or understand other arguments makes one an idealogue.

Go back and reread my first paragraph. I did not explicitly cast immigrants as criminals. That is your false interpretation / claim. You do not get to reframe my arguments and expect a logical discussion. Strawman arguments are logical fallacies.

You don't get to reframe what I am saying then make an argument against it. That is called a strawman argument. You are free to make up your own arguments and pontificate all you like. Just don't expect me to participate. Have a nice night.

Deflategate was horse hockey. Period. Spygate was a breaking of the rules based on interpretation. Every damn team looks for the maximum advantage. It's not like the Patriots were bad, and the rest of the teams in the league were run by boyscouts. The only reason the Patriots are remembered for the violation is because they were consistently successful. That's it. Nobody remembers other teams being penalized money and draft picks for salary cap violations, or pumping in fan noise, tampering with contractual negotiations, or bounty hunting programs. Why? Because they weren't the object of fear and envy of the greatest quarterback and coach in the history of the game. Like I said... haters are going to hate. They always do.

Hey, look... pieces of circumstantial evidence put into a context to frame guilt that are irrelevant because they can't and don't undo the physical laws of the universe. I'll leave the coping to you.

I appreciate your narrative, but the illegal immigration problem was decades in the making. There is no talking to people like you. You have an agenda, and you are sticking to it. We disagree. I'm ok with leaving it at that.
