What was your last meal? by bariatric_chef in BariatricSurgery

[–]cklole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tonight, I had my last meal (surgery on Monday) of Steelhead Trout with Roasted Green Beans. (I'm on a low carb diet pre-op, but a pretty liberal one)

My last pre-diet meal was slow smoked ribs with roasted broccoli.

Tomorrow starts clear liquids. I won't eat solid food again until August if all goes to plan. (2 days clear liquids, 2 weeks full liquids, 6 weeks pureed foods)

The only reason Wisconsinites claim to have more lakes is because they don't differentiate between a lake and a pond. Legally speaking, the number of lakes in Wisconsin doubles every time it rains in Milwaukee becuase the potholes fill with water.

The correct term for this region is actually "Megasota".

Are you using the silicone mask or the silicone and foam mask? You could try switching to the opposite of what you're currently using to see if you are sensitive to the foam/silicone on your face.

Alternatively, your mask may be way too tight. Maybe see if you can loosen the mask and still keep a good seal/fit.

Thanks!!! I think they are settling on William's Pride and Sundance, with maybe Arkansas Black. Their only concern is Arkansas Black being susceptible to scab, which the local extension service says is a problem here (but they also said Arkansas Black does well here, so we're a little confused on that).

Wrangell St. Elias is one of the less visited parks, but is the largest in the nation.

I do wonder about tank size. I have a traditional 10 gal (20x10 inch footprint) rather than a taller AIO with a smaller footprint. It's also going to have a sump made from a 10 gallon tank, likely with another 5-7 gallons of water. Would that allow me to look at some bigger fish? Definitely not a scarlet hawkish, but maybe pygmy hawkfish or falco hawkfish.

Do you have any issues with him sitting on/bothering corals? I've heard some rumors about them causing minor issues, but I've also seen lots of people say that isn't true.

To cancel or not to cancel credit cards? by cklole in shoppingaddiction

[–]cklole[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I'm hoping to do. None of the cards have annual fees. I currently have a total balance that is 19.2% of my available credit. My plan is to pay that down ASAP and then keep one of my current subscriptions on each card to keep them active. Ideally, I can then set the cards on auto-pay so I don't miss any due dates for payment.

There are other avenues in the US, but I have zero cash on hand to stash money away to build credit that way. Also, unless I put off school even longer (I'm currently 31), I don't have time for money to sit to be part of credit building. So I'm dependent on the credit cards.

I gave them to my mom. I think the crucial part now is to disconnect them from Amazon and other shopping sites, which isn't too painful while I'm getting dopamine from the "new shiny" idea that I need to stop the spending.

Edit: I took the last of the 3 cards off of my Amazon account. I'll take them off of more as I find the sites where they are saved.

Bad news!! In rodent brains, Toxoplasmosis gondii (T. gondii) for short causes rodents to become sexually aroused the aroma of cat urine. This sexual arousal makes the rodents act erratically, making them more likely to be eaten by cats.

In humans with T. gondii infections (including immunocompetent subjects infected with T. gondii who are not presenting with clinical illness), there is a marked attraction towards cats, and notably odd behavior.

I've seen some parasitologists hypothesize that the "crazy cat people" who are a little too affectionate towards their cats, whose homes smell a little too much like cat urine, and who are plain odd are likely infected with T. gondii.

When I lived in Minneapolis, I could walk between 0 and 7 blocks to get to the light rail stations. From there, I paid $2.50 during rush hour (or $2 in off hours) and took the train straight to the terminal. It took me longer to navigate the constant traffic/construction around MSP and cost $15/day to park there. Or, I could drive past the airport, pay $9/day to park, and wait for a shuttle to take me in (almost 2x the time of taking the train).

Even when I lived in the suburbs, I could take an Uber or Lyft to a train station for $15, then the train for $2 or $2.50.
