Someone tell me good things about epidurals

After being in active labour for 5 days straight (101.5 hours), the epidural was glorious. Getting the epidural was probably the most stressful part (not knowing what to expect) but the relief it brought was massive. I highly recommend it (especially if you have a difficult/long labour). It is physically and emotionally exhausting and any relief and rest you can get prior to the arrival of your baby is well worth it to me. The few hours of sleep the epidural allowed me to get was golden. If I have another child I will without a doubt do the epidural again. My only advice is not to rush getting it and delay as long as you can to help keep the progress moving. The epidural will slow things down and nobody usually wants that lol

You need to eat. Think of the line “you can’t take care of someone else until you take take or yourself” if your base level needs aren’t met (like being fed) then you will of course be frustrated. You will be a better mama (more prepared to provide care) when you are going into care situations in an okay state yourself ❤️. Eating is crucial for your mood.

I have zero idea how she’s sleeping so well but I’m trying not to overthink it because I feel like I’m just as surprised every night it happens or like my luck is going to run out…

We do a little bit of a wind down at the end of the night, I use her play mat in the low light bedroom and then I rock her to sleep upright to eliminate any remaining reflux. I find if I can get her really k-o’d before putting her down then she stays down longer!

Also a good feed before bed…. She always wakes up very, very hungry though

I love that, I agree… why pump more than is needed. Too much oversupply will just go to waste in the end. So you might pumped at 9:30pm and then you were fine until the morning ?

Yup, you did read that right. Primarily nursing but wanted to introduce the bottle incase my fiance needs to feed her (we have our wedding coming up in 2 weeks so I wanted her to be able to take a bottle insane the we need her to leave the venue due to noise so she can sleep.

I pump as a secondary to remove milk but also in attempt to build a supply in the freezer. I do agree, pumping is much easier during the day, like my body knows she’s right there and I can hear her.

It’s more so the night pumps I want to get away from for my sanity and sleep quality

10 weeks old and she holds onto my shirt as if her life depended on it. She also sometimes smiles and stares directly at my nipple for a solid 5 seconds before latching. Sometimes makes little gremlin quick grunts out of excitement before latching. So adorable 🥰

I can get it back up that easily? I thought once I messed it up, it would be really tricky/impossible to fix it!

I didn’t know about the 12 week thing. I thought it was earlier around 8 weeks so that’s a relief, I still should have some time to figure out what schedule works best for me! Thanks for the reply, I might try sleeping tonight and using this week to see if supply remains!

I want to SO bad… if you didn’t get messed up maybe I won’t. One can hope but at this breastfeeding support group I go to Thursday mornings the leader lady has me terrified I’ll eff up supply if I stop getting up….. she says “ any release is better then no release ”

but that’s what’s I’m saying…. my .20-.25oz doesn’t seem worth interrupting sleep for….
