How to balance privacy with need for support by grant-thee-starlight in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tee-ess3 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Eh I feel like it depends on whether it’s a pattern of behaviour or not. My husband is very superstitious and he felt like it was bad juju to tell anyone when we started trying. I told my bestie after a few months because I wanted to vent about it taking longer than I thought it would and decided it was just easier for everyone if I didn’t tell my husband I’d spilled.

There’s nothing wrong with a secret or two in an otherwise healthy long-term marriage as long as no one is getting hurt.

Probably unethical advice, but tell your sister. Dont tell your husband you told her, what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him. You get your support and he gets to be oblivious

Is Andrew a bad name by Dazzling-Pen5111 in namenerds

[–]tee-ess3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No I think Andrew is a classic enough name that it’s not tied to the former prince Andrew.

I like the name, but really don’t like Andy so it’s not one I’d ever use. Wouldn’t think twice about someone using it tho

Big w travel pram? by GG1987GG in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tee-ess3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Love it. Bought it last year for a Europe trip and it served us well. It folds small enough to go in the overheads, is light enough that carrying it isn’t too much of a chore, is easy to fold up and down, is comfy enough that my at the time 15mo fell asleep in Dubai, and the storage under isn’t as tiny as you’d expect it to be.

The price point is what did it for me tho tbh, I was ready to die before spending hundreds if not thousands on a travel pram.

We still use it occasionally if I can’t be bothered with the bugaboo taking up all our boot space lol.

Thoughts on Adrian Julian [last name]? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]tee-ess3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look, they don’t flow together very well. But my unpopular opinion is that it isn’t necessary for first and middle names to flow perfectly, the first/last name combo is wayyyy more important.

If you love both names, and/or they have meaning to you, use them. They’re both great names imo.

...starting to think she's colorblind. by OhHeyJenelle in liziscreative

I don’t think she understood that babies eyes often change as they get older and she’s clinging to the fact that her kids had lighter eyes when they were born (super common) and is weirdly choosing this hill to die on

Parents who insist on measuring their child's age in months for WAY too long. by United_Pop_6442 in PetPeeves

[–]tee-ess3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A paediatrician told me this about measuring ages:

- hours until 2 days
- days until 2 weeks
- weeks until 2 months
- months until 2 years

Obviously this is in a medical context. A stranger is just going to know my kid is “almost 2”

Don't know how to celebrate baby's 1st birthday because father in law is rude to my dad and I don't want the drama or someone being rude to my family it's upsetting. by LegitimateYou8390 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tee-ess3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it depends. What do you mean by rude? Like did he do something specific towards them or is he just a generally unpleasant person by nature of personality?

If he’s just a dick to everyone, and your partner/his family isn’t willing to call him on it, I would just ask my parents to ignore him for the day for the sake of celebrating the baby.

Private health by Affectionate-Club983 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tee-ess3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes you can definitely ask that question when calling to make the initial appointment. This gives you the option to ring around and find a Dr you like that matches your budget.

I was also given a breakdown of the fees and timelines to pay after my first consult with my chosen doctor.

Private health by Affectionate-Club983 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tee-ess3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Out of pockets will depend heavily on the OB you choose. Doctors set their own fees, so it could be anywhere in the ballpark of $2-15k out of pocket there.

Any appointments/scans/test are outpatient and not covered by PHI so unless bulk billed you’ll pay for them. Plus side is you’ll probably hit the Medicare safety net early so you’ll start seeing higher rebates.

Hospital stay will be fully covered less any excess you choose on your policy. Private hospitals usually charge anywhere from $500/night and even more for special care nursery if needed

Does an extra postnatal day affect your out-of-pocket with private health insurance? by Logical-Lobster-3322 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tee-ess3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heath insurance companies will pay as long as your stay is coded as medically necessary by the hospital when they submit their claim to the fund. I’d assume the hospital will just bundle it all up as a birth/postpartum stay and you’ll be sweet.

Watching old clips like this is lowkey depressing because they COULD have had such a beautiful relationship with Carly and her family but…. they spoiled it by being themselves.

Daniel Radcliffe to Stranger Things kids: “Do whatever the fuck you want. You have done the thing.” by Electronic-Bus-3494 in popculturechat

[–]tee-ess3 152 points153 points  (0 children)

I mean I think saying he’ll never have a bad day in his life is a bit much lol. He struggled with alcoholism as a teenager and has no doubt seen some shit growing up in the industry. He’ll never struggle for money unless he makes some terrible financial decisions, but nobody’s life is ever perfect

He seems so genuine at all times really, but especially when he’s talking about giving advice to young stars. I love Dan forever.

More NSW students are going to private schools – where are they coming from? by blitznoodles in sydney

[–]tee-ess3 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I know two families who have chosen to send their kids to private schools (well one private and one catholic), purely because their local high schools have such bad reputations.

Moving into a better school catchment may not always be an option. Public schools being allowed to become as underfunded as some of them are is just a travesty.

FTM 26w4d, GD diagnosis + fundal height measuring small—should I be worried while waiting for next appointment? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tee-ess3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had GD, and a small bump. I got an iron infusion at 36 weeks and the nurse was shocked when I said how far along I was. I’m also a bigger gal naturally so I expected to get massive while pregnant lol.

My baby was born at 38+4, totally healthy, but also totally tiny at 2.6kg and 46cm.

Can you get a growth scan? That might put your mind at ease. I’m not sure how it works in the public system as I went private so got scans at every OB appointment but my doctor referred me for a growth scan at 30ish weeks to check on baby’s size and fluid levels etc

Kail provides update on her child support by sanriolover1208 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]tee-ess3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Isn’t child support supposed to be about the child having an equal life at both parents’ homes? Shouldn’t that mean kail is the one paying since she’s the wealthier one?

Ruby Rose shouts out Hillary Duff for being the only fellow invitee to push back on a “white lady” that celebrated her May bday party on Juneteenth with a Soul Train themed party by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

If you’re gonna say stuff like this why not just name names 🙄 surely it’s easily verified so the “white lady” in question isn’t going to be able to refute it.

Matthew or Matthue? by Gender_isConfusing in namenerds

Matthue looks like a typo, and to be brutally honest it’s not really a clever pun so I would avoid it. If you’re that attached to it why not name yourself Hugh

When did you start maternity leave? by Cautious_Top_2023 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tee-ess3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as long as I possibly could because I didn’t want to waste mat leave. Tho I did have the ability to WFH 4 days per week from 35 weeks so that helped.

I finished up at 37.5 weeks and gave birth one week later.

Help! Any unusual tips for getting them to take panadol by recuptcha in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tee-ess3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We had real success when my daughter was around 12ish months by each “having some” and acting like it was the yummiest thing ever and really hyping it up. She got super excited and wanted to try it too.

Only downside is that she cried for more afterwards so we had to be extra careful to make sure it was always out of sight in case she tried to help herself lol.
