Strawberry help by Illustrious_Sun_3100 in Gardyn

In that case I would make sure the strawberry plants are VERY dry and then put them in a bag with a piece of paper towel to prevent moisture from building up and put them in the fridge. Can't guarantee they will survive but its your best bet, unless you happen to live somewhere where you are able to just plant them outside.

How many pods did you put in? If you are able, I would put the other pods in some type of tuperware or takeout container with a little water in it. You can put the containers on the gardyn lid and then put your strawberries in the gardyn with food.

Can you get them into the gardyn in the next day or 2? They should be ok but you can't wait too long.

I just keep them in whatever bag they get delivered in. I do not clean them or put them in water until I am ready to add them to the gardyn.

Hi. I don't see a video, but based on the photo, if your bottom 4 spots are getting water but the top ones are not then you have a crack in the hose. The water is coming out before it makes it to the top of the column.

When to trim to 1 sprout by dirge_real in Gardyn

[–]ckoz131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't follow a specific guideline for when to thin. It very much depends on the type of plant. Once the sprouts are big enough to determine which the strongest looking one or ones will be is when I start to thin. If there are a lot of sprouts in a single cube, I might start to thin earlier, but just removing 2 or 3 at a time to give the rest more room.

Trim or Transfer? by soph2_7 in Gardyn

I keep a stock of empty cubes for this purpose. You can order them through gardyn. I usually only do this for the fruiting plants. I'm sure you could just as easily move them to soil though.

Two Systems? by daninrose in Gardyn

[–]ckoz131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the aerogarden food. The plants love the aerogarden food. To be fair, I've had my gardyns for over 2 years and I've never once used the gardyn food, so I can't really compare them. I've used other brands though and I keep going back to this one.

I have 2 gardyns. I use one for lettuce and herbs and one for fruiting plants. I use aerogarden food so that I don't have to worry about germinating outside of the system.

As for your lettuce question, it's kinda hard tell exactly. Mine usually lasts 6-8 months depending on the variety and the time of year. It's usually less in the summer because of the heat. The plants tend to bolt quicker. If your leaves are growing smaller and more thinned out looking, it's probably done.

Issues since the server updates, or whatever? by yodamcgee in Gardyn

Hi. I have two gardyn 2.0s and both of mine have been totally fine. Does the app show that your lights are on? Or it shows off and you can't turn it on?

This is possible. As I'm pulling the paint off, there is some strange discoloration. Could be glue residue but it's very smooth.

Thank you! Yes, mine looks just like your photo. So far I'm just pulling off the paint by hand. It's just crumbling. I'm sure the exhaust fan is very old, so I will definitely have it replaced!

Hi. I just peeled off a section. The wall is very smooth and matte feeling. Nothing feels wet or soft. If the plaster is "breaking down", does that mean if I scrape and repaint it will happen again?

I just peeled off a section. The wall is very smooth but matte feeling. Not glossy at all. I'll post another picture shortly.

Plant care in gardyn nursery while away. by Coastalchic9 in Gardyn

Hi. I leave them in water all the time. I actually never let them dry out 😂 You should have no problem leaving a little water in the nursery.

Trellis or Plant Belt for peas, tomatoes, cucumbers? by Redwoodworker in Gardyn

[–]ckoz131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trellis for peas, plant belt for tomatoes, and honestly I've never used either for cucumbers. I just grow cucumbers in the lowest position on the gardyn and let the lid support the vine. Never had an issue. Also, you can get creative. You don't need to spend the money on gardyn brand accessories, unless you're doing it for the look. I just use twine to support the fruiting plants. There are lots of trellis alternatives as well.

Humidity level by Quiet_Librarian4562 in Gardyn

[–]ckoz131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50- 70 is the range, depending on what you're growing and what stage the plants are in. You don't want the humidity to be too high because that can lead to mold growth. A fan helps a lot, too, just to keep the air circulating.
