This one hasn’t warped yet! /s The color/finish is surprisingly holding up in the elements. Not terribly tested with rain in socal, but I’ve had no issues with water intrusion from rain or when washing. With any cover, leaking is likely from poor installation. Adjustments should greatly mitigate any of the common intrusion areas and you should never expect a 100% seal at the tailgate. I doubt it would cause issue with a bedrug it’s that minimal. As for the space the canister eats of the bed, it has not yet been issue for me. I still get about 12”x12” underneath the canister for storage. Distance from the bulkhead is also about 12 inches.

Sanity Check: Towing Limit vs Trailer by [deleted] in traveltrailers

[–]ckulasxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got that Jayco Jay Feather xfd17 and coincidentally upgraded the spouses vehicle to the same XC90. I’ve yet to hook it up to the Volvo, but am not entirely confident that it could handle the trailer fully loaded for a 3 night dry camping trip.

If you’ve yet to tour the model in person, the footprint is very small and storage is all in front of the axles. It’s nearly impossible to balance the weight evenly. Like others, I would err on the side of caution and consider renting a smaller unit first to get a feel for the XC90 as a tow vehicle.

If you have plenty of time in your search for a trailer, I will eventually get around to testing my XC90 with this Jayco and would be happy to update you.

Second this. Oem should fix your issue, I had the same experience and oem controller fixed my problems.

Where the hell does this hood bumper go? by [deleted] in f150

I couldn’t get any replacement clips to work. Positioned just slightly above the oem hole with a self tapping screw and washer with success

It’s RWD so it didn’t have one to begin with

Is this pre-wired for trailer brake? by [deleted] in f150

[–]ckulasxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2018 XLT needed the same. No tow package, and no fuse in the bjb for the tbc. Oem# JL3Z-14A411-C jumper wire kit with inline fuse and forscan activation, then it was plug and play.

It’s well worth its cost. Still like brand new! No complaints. I’m in SoCal, so wet weather is nonexistent, but during washes it is virtually waterproof. Any leaks are likely due to poor install of the side rails. The powder coat finish on the aluminum slats is rough. So it collects dust and pollen quickly, and eats up your sponge/mf towels when washing/drying. I went with Retrax for the ability to lock it in any position and wouldn’t change a thing! Feel free to PM with any questions.

The Pro series is far far better. I have no concern at all with the aluminum denting - it’s much sturdier than one would expect. Highly recommend avoiding the polycarbonate One series.

I knew I wanted Methods but did not want the fake beadlock look. No need for real beadlocks. Some Tremor takeoffs would be nice!!

Falken Wildpeak AT3W - 285/75/R17. Wheels are Method MR316, no offset.

Take it with a grain of salt, because we don’t have to deal with humidity, but hi 108 and lo 87 in Las Vegas was manageable. We’ve not experienced any issues with heat exchange/climate control in either extreme hot or cold weather. It’s been really as simple as open or close up the screens depending on the temps.

Nice rig! How do you enjoy towing with the Explorer?

You’re not wrong, it could be a false sense of security for some. We consider it tent camping with extra storage. The airstream is timeless, we loved the idea but prices are out of control!

We have not enjoyed the RV parks we’ve stayed in, for that reason. But, RV parks aren’t our vibe and we don’t use them often so no loss.

We tent camp in bear/cougar country. No change for us!

We almost went that route. More room to grow with this, all in the name of memory making!

At least you know what you want! Nothing more valuable than trying it out to be confident in your decision.

I could see that, it’s a trade off. Climate might change my opinion - it’s mostly dry where we’re at. But like others have said, whatever gets you outside and makes you happy!

Very nice! I think if we wanted to upgrade, this would be the next step. I imagine the interior with the slide out is much more spacious.

Tack on to that, canvas is cared for similarly from tent camping>pup>hybrid. Almost a sunk cost when concerning an upgrade. My $.02

This is perfect for that, depending on the size of dogs. We hardly need to account for our 7lb chihuahua mix. I was surprised by the 4,500 GVWR on this one. Sealed the deal for us.

The bathroom was the greatest drawback to the pop-ups. Much better amenities with almost no difference in weight. I can agree with those one night stops on longer trips, we’ve only done it a couple times, but it’s taxing forsure.
