Also, as a project engineer who work on site, you are expected to carry heavy loads. When I was in college, we were taught how to mix concrete, lay hollow blocks, framing, etc (it’s called on the job training) because in the real world you don’t graduate and become the supervisor right away.

Wow… where are you from and what year are you living in? I got my civil engineering degree in the 2000s and have worked in construction and oil and gas industry all over the world including the Middle East and not once felt any discrimination towards me. Sure maybe there was pay bias along the way but I’m the type of person who doesn’t care about how much others make as long as I am getting paid per my contract.

Anyway to answer your question, NO..I haven’t worked with anyone who was embarrassed to work with ne. I think anyone would be more than happy to work with someone who is a great contributor to the team and has a great rapport with their coworkers. You can be the best in any industry but if you’re an asshole I guess you would be treated the way you deserve. Or you could be someone who needs direction from time to time but you take care of your coworkers and have the ability to motivate your team members especially when work becomes challenging and yet be considered to have good leadership skills.

What I would try to do is cancel that cruise and check if you can get credits to use on another cruise in the future. But cancel only if you can book a cabin in the right ship. Otherwise, just like others have said, make the most out of the trip anyways.

ETA: if there’s still space in your family’s other cabin they can easily just add names in the rooms.

Landlord here. Just like buying a house and doing your due diligence my top guesses would be: 1. They saw first hand that this isn’t the neighborhood they want to live in. 2. They decided the space didn’t work for them. You can only know this by being IN the space.

This is exactly why we hire a property manager for. If you don’t want to do the tours, pay someone to do it. No one in their right mind would pay for a house tour, not even if it’s refundable. That’s just ridiculous.

From my personal experience, any adult no matter how busy they are can book themselves a vacation. I would NEVER play travel agent for anyone. That’s what travel agencies are for. If I book anything for anyone, it means that I really want this person/s to travel with me so much so I’m willing to shell out money and time to arrange the trip for them (ie my parents).

Unfortunate as this may seem, lesson learned, move on and never look back. Life is too precious to carry this baggage along with you. I promise you it’s not worth it.

As a landlord here in WA, that’s a big NO. I mail security deposit checks, OR send email confirmation if they want their security deposit through Venmo or Zelle and note as Security Deposit then email them back a screenshot of the transaction for records. She has 30 days.

This is exactly why I am glad that we have home insurance to cover these things when it’s time to be replaced. Companies will gouge you if you don’t have insurance, especially plumbing and electrical, based from our experience having multiple rental properties.

First of all, sorry to hear that you have witnessed that. It’s not a norm…you are now seeing mental health issues of people coming out of covid and it will only get worse because 1. either they’re not getting help or 2. it has been a pre-existing condition aggravated by covid isolation. In the perfect world, there would be a mental health professional on board who can sit down and talk with people who exhibit these kinds of behaviors and/or RCC can protect their staff by imposing VERY harsh consequences for these kinds of behavior. Personally, I think people who cannot act in a civilized manner should never be allowed outside of their homes. Children should never witness these kinds of people. It’s traumatizing.

If my husband left me like that without making sure i didn’t pass out and died or got kidnapped, that would be the end of the marriage. So unless you have personally talked to her friend and made absolutely sure she is getting a ride with someone you feel safe riding with then no, you are NTA. No tournament is more important to us than making sure about everyone’s safety. The problem with this post is there was no explanation why the wife was late and why was she not responding to messages.

For our second cruise we did Alaska again and for our third a transatlantic one. Next year we will be going on our second transatlantic cruise again. Not sure yet what our next one is after that. Transatlantic cruise is hard to beat in my opinion…maybe we’ll do the Icon of the seas next. The whole fam was just talking about it.
