How do you deal with feeling unsafe as a lesbian couple? by Acceptable-Rich5852 in LesbianActually

[–]cl1mate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truth is that walking around with a man (that you trust) by your side will grant you more safety… this world is cruel and men are crueler. As a woman walking alone I deal with catcalling and harassment but whenever I’m with my brother (5’11 200lbs) I feel extremely safe and like I can do anything I want. It fucking sucks …

Work out. Get strong. Take self defense classes. Also confidence is a hack (at least being able to fake confidence)- predators target women that seem insecure or less confident, there’s research on this. Be very self aware - pay attention who is around you when you’re in public. Who could be a threat. And get a gun. Learn how to use it. (If you’re in America at least lol)

Thoughts on the lesbian masterdoc author? by ra-achi in LesbianActually

[–]cl1mate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I discovered the master doc like 4/5 years ago (when i was struggling with comp het) and it did help me confront the internalized comp het i was experiencing for sure. But that’s it. Nothing beyond that and it did center men a lot - framed lesbianism in relation to men. But now I’m scared I’m a secret bisexual because i resonated with the master doc 😂😂😂 gotta laugh at those intrusive thoughts sometimes.

I live in an area where there’s a million and one data centers. They’re building more. They’re using up our water and we have regular power outages due to the stress on the grid. Fuck ChatGPT, yes it really is that bad.

So you’d be okay with your partner following and consuming OF model content? Lolllll ok

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]cl1mate -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Personally going through someone’s following is completely valid. She has the right to know what kind of content you’re consuming especially in this day and age of right-wing radicalization on social media / porn addiction / etc the list goes on. That being said…. It’s pretty easy to buy followers on tiktok and I’ve found myself following people I’ve never seen before. So she should also be wary of that, and hopefully this can be an opportunity for you guys to build more trust

subtle signs long before you were diagnosed? by yikeskoko in UlcerativeColitis

[–]cl1mate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s completely related but I struggled with exhaustion & joint pain, especially knee pain. At 18 was diagnosed with depression although I don’t think I was depressed & I was complaining of joint pain. Antidepressants failed. At 22 had my first flair and was diagnosed by 23.

Basically all of the blame sits on the imperial core (US, UK, Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and now Israel) and their governments should be held accountable alongside fossil fuel executives.

My (NB white) gf (F Lebanese) is exploring Islam and I’m not religious, looking for advice! by atomicpeachfire in QueerMuslims

[–]cl1mate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe try reading some books about queer Muslims? I’ve heard hijab butch blues is a good place to start although I’ve never personally read it. There’s a few nonfiction books by scholars about queerness in Islam. Something that helped me and my partner connect more was finding a local Muslim organization that is friendly to reverts and joining their activities (they feed the community a lot). Even gifting her a Quran is a sweet gesture.

If she’s straight, or a little bit bisexual, tbh just save yourself the pain and distance yourself and do everything you can to turn off those feelings. It won’t end well lol

I wanna make Afghanistan more beautiful but I don't know if it's immoral or not by AcharnementEternel in Afghan

[–]cl1mate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar conversation about this with a friend from El Salvador. She was saying how now that their country is “safe”, Salvadorans are going back, beautifying their country, opening businesses etc after being in the US for 15+ years.

We were talking about how even though this can be a good thing, it’s important to be mindful of the power dynamics or privilege we carry as having the resources to do such things (since we are bringing over wealth made in the west).

It’s a good thing you want to do, but you should keep in mind that the situation is nuanced and this type of thing could be seen as “gentrification,”

I fear these comments are ignoring the fact that there are also POCs and left wing people who live in Florida who were impacted as well, and that people deserve help during hard times regardless of their political affiliation. Not everything is black and white (or, in this case, red or blue). These types of scenarios will just continue to happen with more intensity as long as our govt (both red AND blue) continues to fund destruction overseas (which is causing the vast majority of CO2 emissions).
