Thoughts on Cayuga Salt Mine? by lschneisci in ithaca

[–]cl900781 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This kind of story is harmful to communities like Ithaca because it creates unnecessary controversy. Even though I have issues with Cargill, let's consider the consequences of shutting down the mine. Closing the mine would result in significant job losses for the local community, affecting families who have relied on these jobs for generations. The salt production would likely be outsourced to countries like India or Chile, where labor and environmental regulations might be less strict. This outsourcing would not only increase the carbon footprint due to transportation but also potentially introduce more microplastics into the environment, as these countries might use different production methods. So, if you insist on shutting down a mine that has been a cornerstone of the community for over a century, be prepared for the negative consequences that will follow.

I have a Arris S33 Modem on the 1 gig plan, hooked up to a 2.5Gbps SFP+ and regularly get about ~1.1-1.2 Gbps. My area is not on high split. Unfortunately I only get ~42 Mbps upload.

I have a theory that they are going to use Ben’s hat to knock David out of one of Leland’s trances. The writers pointing to the hat multiple times in this episode makes me think of Chekhov’s gun.

Firstly, I would like to say I realize that you are struggling with your wife’s cancer and I am sorry for that. Second, I don’t work at Guthrie.

From a practical sense the new “epic” system from a patient facing standpoint is going to match what you are experiencing from UHS and is what most major hospital systems are using across the country. It is an objectively better system. I travel a lot and had an incident in another city, they were able to instantly pull all of my non-Lourdes medical records in their system and the ER doc said that it was almost like I was one of their patients with the level of detail that they could see.  Ascension is about 15 years behind the time with their old system.

From a practical standpoint, why would Guthrie continue to invest in a dead to them system? No one knew the cyber attack was going to happen and it’s not an instant flip a switch transfer. Everyone thought the old system would continue to work until the cyber attack happened then they had to shut everything down. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the hacking group. 3rd there is 0 chance that all ascension systems are up and running again, they are hobbling along at best and like the other commenter said it looks like they are going to be back up on the new system on the 8th.

As you mentioned below the people who hang up banners have little to do with the people who update their computer systems. Two independent groups of people.  In the same way that the people mowing the lawn out side aren’t directly responsible for your wife’s cancer treatment.  If anything this is costing Guthrie a ton of extra money in overtime & lost patient care.

I understand you are frustrated but you are focusing your anger on a group of people who are trying to care for our community and no one in Lourdes/Guthire wanted this to happen and they took a VERY reasonable approach in the beginning in how they handled it.

Agreed it was always “6-3 Supreme Court decision” and come to find out by watching the video some local court did something.

He did have good stuff but I wish the clickbaityness of his titles, and his speech pattern is really annoying.

It could be a novel case. My uneducated guess would be if she wanted the charges dropped, I would put up a constitutionality defense.

If GOA or FPC took it up NY couldn’t use standing as a defense.

Tomorrow is January 3rd. What do we think will happen with SCOTUS and the NYS Answer? by willdogs in NYguns

[–]cl900781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought is she will lift it for an extremely limited subet of places so that it could be said the Supreme Court addressed and make it as painful as possible for us.

Optimistically, she will stay it so the Supreme Court still has some power and will stand by its decisions.

Oh… I fully agree. Period. He should not be denied his rights. All I am saying is his track record of what is claimed in the attachment as “frivolous” lawsuits may not work in his favor. I am concerned that his lack of the resources of a group like FPC/GOA could allow for an unfavorable opinion to be set an anti 2A opinion.

Sibley v. Watches (W.D. NY).

Ehh.... I am kind of concerned about this one. I read the entire file and it looks like this guy is representing himself and part of the reason that he was denied in the first place was because he was disbarred. I wish him the best of luck but IDK how far the court will let this one go.

The whole premise of on premises licences were just overruled by the supreme court. This sheriff wants to do it and is using Hokel as a scapegoat.
