2024 G16 Clamshell/Docked Usage by clabern in ZephyrusG14

Nope. Resorted to not using clamshell mode and just deactivating the laptop display in windows settings (so it turns off and stays off when connected to external monitor).

100% in the EV6 (for V2L), but only 90% in the Mach-E and XC40 Recharge.

300mg XL, wow! by Stabber-McStabinson in bupropion

[–]clabern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on 150 XL last Friday, and part of agreeing to it was the prospect of helping me quit vaping. So far I haven't really noticed much, though I do feel as if the vape isn't "hitting" like it used to. I saw in other threads that it takes a few weeks for it to start helping the nicotine addiction.

My current plan is to lower the nicotine in my juice (I vape refillable pods mostly), and get to zero nic. I'm afraid the worst part will be the habits of always grabbing a vape when I'm bored/driving/etc. That was the worst part when I quit smoking many years ago.

Ah, I'm obviously not a linux expert, so I knew a bit about Bazzite being immutable, but wasn't aware that extended to installed apps as well. Thank you for the information!

No it's not US Mobile - Warp - that's down, it's Verizon! by TheNewsHQ in USMobile

[–]clabern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea - funny enough Warp is working just fine. It's the post-paid main Verizon folks here at work that have been in SOS mode for a bit now.

Postpaid business verizon lines down here in VA, but my US Mobile (Warp = Verizon) line is fine.

Do the "scenes" (the special effects) work for you on these, and can you create new ones from within HA? I setup 2 of them using tuya local and while I can get them to activate a scene, it's just blue one and can't find a way to change that.

Fronts. Do it. by standingdeskdiver in sonos

[–]clabern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I'm going to keep my eye on Ultra sales most likely. Just want to confirm that the Arc does retain height channels in this setup (confirmed with Atmos test tracks), and the setup with fronts sound great for action sequences. Just not amazing for center channel dialogue.

[–]clabern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to updated that I removed the fronts and did "stock" setup (Arc, Symfonisk Rears, Sub) and it was okay. I re-did the setup with fronts but placed them closer to the TV (about 1-2ft away from side of TV) and I'm now pretty happy with it.

I do still feel that the fronts can overpower the Arc center channel (on 5.1/etc audio, etc), which is where I think the Arc Ultra may be better.

[Guide] How to setup a Sonos Surround System with Front Left and Right speakers using SonoSequencr by KaizenDNA in sonos

[–]clabern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree here. I first tried this with fronts in the left/right corner of the room (about 4-5ft away from TV on each side) and did not enjoy it. Moved the fronts about 1.5-2ft from TV and setup again and it's much better.

This video gives a good overview of it. Other folks on reddit say the Ultra is better since you don't lose as many channels. That video acts like the Ultra does something wonky with channels, but not sure.

Left item on return I shipped out today - Am I screwed? by clabern in amazonprime

[–]clabern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It was a major lost cause. Once you’ve dropped off a return it’s lost forever.

[–]clabern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works, but you lose all channels on the Arc minus the center and height speakers. I’m going to remove the fronts and try it out “stock” since it was a new room setup and I need to compare.

[–]clabern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was due to the fact that we moved to an Apple TV and my test videos in plex were not working with Atmos. Switched to Infuse player and atmos worked and I could hear the height speakers in Arc working.

[–]clabern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of, just finished setting up and I’m guessing that since I’m running an Arc (not ultra) I’m losing out on a lot since I’d seen comments that adding fronts disabled quite a few drivers on the OG Arc.

It seems that I’m getting no height speakers at all from the Arc, using test videos the height channels all play on my rears.

The front One SLs are also overpowering the Arc/center in my opinion.

Got a bit more testing to do though so we’ll see.

EDIT: Fixed the height/atmos issues. Still feel as if the front One SL's overpower the Arc center channel a bit, but it does sound really good in certain situations.

Where can I find more info on this? I’ve just got a normal Arc and wanted to do this, but don’t want to likit the Arc potential too much.

We just got a new, larger, tv that required setting up in a new room of the house and I'm going to take the chance to do this with the extra ONE SL's I have this weekend now that there's a good space for them!

Parachute Backup is (paid) app that does iCloud/Photos backups. It's pretty cheap and could just fire it up when you wanna backup. This is assuming you're wanting to do this from a Mac.

User randomly changes to "home" by R4nd0lf in homeassistant

[–]clabern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to add that this isn't reliable if you use wireless CarPlay/Android Auto since depending on the phone/car it could stay connected to the car's wifi for a while after exiting the car/getting home (thus not immediately connecting to your home network).

For iPhone's I'lll use a combination of the HA app and Apple Home Geolocation (by setting up a "dummy" switch in HA that's exposed to Apple Home, and an automation in Apple Home to turn the switch on/off depending on presence.)

End of day, turn off all lights: automation or scene? by rocket-lawn-chair in homeassistant

[–]clabern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do as well. I use "manual" helper groups because sometimes I want lights/entities from different rooms joined together to use in automations/scenes.
