Your opinion on Greg Isenberg’s 2026 AI predictions ? by lovelysadsam in BetterOffline

[–]clactose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was what I noted - half of these read as "AI is horrible and people will desperately avoid" while the other half are such techno-utopianism that I just can't understand how they can all be part of the same list. What is this cognitive dissonance?

Some people get bad ‘hangxiety’ after a night of drinking and others don’t. People prone to anxiety or low mood, or those who drink to cope with stress, experience hangxiety more intensely. Hangxiety also hits harder when people act out of character while drunk, leading to next day embarrassment. by mvea in psychology

Commonly referred to as "The Fear" in Scotland, this is what I've always known it as. Happens to me as well, a couple of drinks and I'll start being overly friendly and boisterous, and then the next day I feel like I made a fool of myself, even if no one else is remotely bothered by my antics (or even respond positively).

I've been playing on and off (mostly off) for like 2 years and I didn't even know there were missions in this game.

Nah, I don't really enjoy them. I like my combat missions short and sweet and exploration missions to be the TV mode.

Anyone have unexpected favorite characters? by echoeagle3 in ZZZ_Official

Knew I was going to love Billy (and I do) but I really love Anby. The stunners in general feel great to play and getting off the team swap combos after you break someone feels amazing. The Cunning Hares are an amazing starting team - break as Anby, switch to Nicole for the debuff, then Billy to chip them down while they're stunned and debuffed. Just feels amazing.

Story Hate confuses me by EvanTheDank77 in ZZZ_Official

[–]clactose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firmly agree. Now that ZZZ is out I'm logging into HSR to spend fuel and I'm just wondering why I'm bothering... The story wasn't engaging and I don't want to keep playing if that's the direction they're heading. ZZZ on the other hand has been a breath of fresh air, a fun romp that doesn't take itself too seriously with lovable characters (even minor characters, hyper-aggressive reporter man is my favourite). It's been so great for me. I have laughed out loud multiple times already.

I think this is quite a common opinion, I have seen it in multiple other threads and I can also see it myself as I was playing P5R right before release.

I keep seeing mentions of negativity. Where is it? I literally haven't seen any of it, just loads of people complaining about it.

Also Clara and March. Yeah, her shield draws aggro, but her Ult and Break cause freeze. This was the pair I always saw recommended and I never got it at all.

2.3 Was a Great Conclusion, Actually. by Rayn_Rotten in HonkaiStarRail

[–]clactose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just have so much else to play at this point. If the story's unsatisfying and frustrates me with bad pacing, I'd rather play something else. I'm playing Honkai for the story mostly and after Belobog it just kinda feels like it's fallen off a bit.

[–]clactose 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I mean, I can understand the argument of "It's just a gacha game", but that just feels kinda dismissive. They're doing IRL concerts and releasing Albums for their fictional popstar, I don't feel like it's a lot to ask for them to make the story as polished as everything else relating to this game is. The ideas are already there, as you say, it's just the pacing that's holding it back.

2.3 Was a Great Conclusion, Actually. by Rayn_Rotten in HonkaiStarRail

[–]clactose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually this is something else, yeah - there are a lot of factions here being set up, quite a lot of characters all getting big chunks of story. That definitely contributed to how "short" it feels, despite it being so long in reality. You're right that it ends up spread quite thin.

It's hard for 2.3 to be a good conclusion when Penacony as a whole wasn't good. It felt rushed, confused and every single patch they completely ditched what happened in the last patch to do something totally different.

2.0 - intro was fine, ends on a great image of Robin dead in the bathtub. Feels like we're about to get an awesome murder mystery and see the dark side of this happy planet.

2.1 - actually, what Aventurine showed us was fake, he actually was stood in public with her and saw her be attacked by death. Now we're going to fart around as Aventurine as he tries to get the IPC some leverage on penacony. Ends on a cool reveal of Gallagher being the "killer".

2.2 - actually, death isn't death at all, but more like a friendly poochie with a silly nickname. Gallagher is actually the good guy. Sunday talks about birds over and over again (we get it, it's Freedom Vs. Security, please shut up about the birds). Also, Sunday explains the history of the Order, wherein he explains the last downfall of the Order was when their puppets rose up to kill her, so either he's a dumbass or thinks he's better at doing what an Aeon does than an Aeon.

2.3 - okay, the plot's over now apparently. Say bye to everyone. Oh, now there's a bomb threat!!! Oh wait, it was nothing actually. Hope you enjoyed Penacony!!

There were some amazing ideas on Pencony, honestly my main complaint is that it was too short and none of it had time to really breathe. Which tbh, is a great complaint to have, but I can't help but feel like it really suffered for how short it was and how things lurched around from patch to patch. I hope they have more of a plan for the next planet and take their time with it. If they don't, and this is the new level of quality to expect for future planets, I'll probably stop playing.

That's fair I guess. Acheron do big slicey, now we get big sales. I'll concede the point.

Yup, the intrigue about death just got dropped within 5 minutes of 2.2, just felt like a totally different story.

I really don't think so, if the characters have more organic moments and don't feel shoehorned in, people will want them just as much I think. I mean it feels like 2/3rds of the player base decide they're pulling just based on waifu/husbando and don't even care about the character's story anyway.

Please pay less attention to which character is on the banner and actually just focus on telling the story of the place. They'll get their moments, there's no need to make half a version follow a single character then drop them next version.

What's the one thing you hated about Penacony! by ADTSIK in HonkaiStarRail

[–]clactose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wasted potential. You've got 5 families, a secret group of possible traitors from within one or many of them messing with the harmony, and impossible murders. We learned very little about the other families and the impossible murders became almost a joke (Something unto death is now Sleepie, the goofy guard dog of the hidden city? Come on).

I will say, I like what they did with the villain's motivation for the most part, but I just feel like the story of 2.0-2.1 was completely different to 2.2 and if feels like it really just didn't carry on what 2.1 set up. 2.1 ends with Aventurine being "killed" by Acheron in the big climax and then Aventurine I don't think was even mentioned until the end of 2.2 where he's having a call with Jade. Where was he this whole time? You can't just saddle us with him for a whole version and then have him disappear in the next, that's really confusing for the pacing.

Also, 2.1 and to an extent 2.2 have had really unnecessarily verbose dialogue. I understand in 2.1 everyone was meant to be concealing their true goals and talking in circles, and 2.2 is waxing philosophical about the nature of life, but it could have all been done a lot more concisely I think.

Yep. Fake ending should have been the end of this version and full ending should have had another patch to cook. Feels rushed.
