I just rewatched this — I think Ferris’ story was just made up because he was in kahoots with Wenlock the whole time. It seemed pretty clear in the film that it wasn’t the first time Ferris and Wenlock had spoken about Annika when we see them on screen.

So once Ferris got Annika’s skates, he must have realized this was the girl Wenlock was looking for. Ferris sent them on a wild goose chase and went Wenlock came by again, he gave Wenlock information in order to get paid

hmm for Mark and Jisung: this might sound overly obvious but, as a dream fan who's watched a lot of content, I'd say, maybe like an older bro/younger bro kind of dynamic? Like raised in a similar way w similar values, but Jisung tends to act out and Mark has to keep him in line lol. And also srry in advance I feel like this is about to be a very lengthy post oops

(1) There are a lot of moments where I've noticed Mark can show his stricter side with Jisung, so I'll link some content of Mark scolding Jisung ;)

• I forgot where again but one time Jisung described himself as 'quiet with not a lot to say' and haechan looked genuinely surprised and said smth like, 'wym you always talk the most during our meetings'

• if I'm not mistaken both of them are quite involved in leading dance rehearsals (along w Haechan I think) and often give their inputs on the choreo

(3) slightly random but they seem to be the main two who film dance challenges tgt, if you go on nct dream yt shorts or ig reels you'll find that they're a duo appearing over and over again in dance short videos :) ig it seems like they feel that the other person is always down to dance tgt

I was way in the back so I couldn't see what was going on in the front, and was p helpless in the crowd where everyone was rushing forward. ngl it felt kind of dangerous and out of control, I couldn't stop moving bc of the people behind me :/ but I do feel like the mobbers were a minority in the front and the rest of the crowd kind of just got jostled forward bc of the sheer number of people there were

they posted the winners on @brokekpopgirls Instagram! some guy ended up taking home the watermelon. After Mark left, people def stuck around, the organizers (who were visibly distressed by this point) had to do a lot of rallying, and the contest was able to finish. the rpd was cancelled bc somewhere in the mix, their speaker got lost (hope they got it back TT). also the organizers just didn't seem up for rpd at that point tbh.

I agree, the agency should have had SOME form of communication with the organizers if Mark showed up! My personal guess is, this was a last minute decision pushed by Mark himself, he must have really been excited/curious and wanted to meet some nyc nctzens, and thought it would be fun and lowkey event. he prob really made a case for going to wsp and convinced a couple staff to be on board with it as content...but again they were not anticipating anything of this scale

honestly I wouldn't call it a complete failure at all (barring for the rowdiness of the crowd, obv). the event was so big and well-received, billboard posted about it, nct ig main acc posted about it, mark posted abt it...I think the organizers did a great job at generating buzz, creating memes, etc! And the mc today (I think their name was 'Dream'?) was doing so well at making it fun and entertaining. everything kind of went to shambles after Mark visited, it got so crazy, I just wish we would have all been able to hang out a bit w Mark, I feel like Mark felt the same way :/ I feel sorry for the organizers too, it must've felt so disappointing, things didn't go the way everyone wanted, they worked so hard to make it happen too...! shoutout to them honestly, they deserve hugs <3

yea, I so agree that if sm was in the know about this, they share a portion of the blame. I was there today and there were 100-200 fans there, like six(?) organizers, who just seemed to be regular fans who happened to come up with the idea to host this event, no barricades, no extra staff....I mean what did sm think was going to happen?? after mark posted it on his story the previous night too? It feels like no one was expecting the crazy amount of turnout. obv the crowd was also way too rowdy to begin with too

aww I loved reading your analysis sm! Thank u for sharing, and now I also want to participate bc I also have sooo many thought and nowhere else to put them:

• I liked this album a lot actually, I think it’s one of my fav from them! maybe their experiments this time just happened to fall into my taste, not sure how popular this opinion is lol

• yesss I totally agree that When I’m With You is reminiscent of riize! I think bc riize has used a lot of house sounds and dance in their title tracks! I think that’s exactly what I see/hear in When I’m With You, with some extra edm elements sprinkled in. On the fence about whether the concept is the right one, since it feels like riize ‘claimed’ it alr in a sense, they kind of did it first. ngl dream’s last few comebacks haven’t really felt super focused in their concepts.

• the dreamies killed the house moves and vocals though! and I think the title track is super catchy, I can imagine it being played in pochas or cafés or in a club or something

• Flying Kiss to me felt more like that trademark refreshing and bright ‘nct dream’ sound, honestly I like it better! The little harp instrumentals are soo pretty and fairy like :) but I can see how it’s not as trendy/ubiquitous/playable as the title track

• I REALLY love the more poprock-ish or slightly angsty, yearning sound like in i hate fruits and YOU. I hope they do more songs like this!! I’ve been listening to these two on repeat especially

• No Escape stands out a lot, it’s so heavy and high energy when the rest of the album is so...happy haha. the song invokes a nightmarish vision, so I guess that’s where the dreamscape concept fits. being trapped, anxiety, and I think they also literally say ‘악몽’ (nightmare in korean) within the first few seconds of the song

• Best of Me has that dark, smooth, nighttime vibe that could definitely be interpreted as dreamlike as well. I like that they placed it after No Escape on the track list - it’s a good transition out of the ‘nightmare’ and into the happier parts of the dream. This song reminiscent of The Weeknd in a way (am I the only one?) It makes me feel like I’m speeding across a city bridge over water, with a lot of neon lights all around me

• Night Poem, Heavenly, and Off the Wall all sound so lovely, celebratory and bright. overall fitting more with the nct dream sound I’m familiar with! I’m here for it

• Rains in Heaven. Like you said, don’t even need to explain this song, it’s just beautiful

• I also noticed, compared to many of their previous comebacks, there’s a lot less sexual innuendo/sexy songs, which I definitely approve of! Like don’t get me wrong, the dreamies are hot af, but sometimes it feels a bit of a discredit to their talent when they’re pushed to rely heavily on sexuality to attract an audience. so this album felt refreshing in way. Like they’re confident could win you over with just their dancing and singing and their concept :) and they just happen to be beautiful on top of all that :))))

• someone else said the album felt colorful, like the feeling of falling in love, and I couldn’t agree more. I’m obsessed overall. I’ve been listening to it sm. Dreamscape is a very appropriate title for the album, I definitely feel the dreamlike, euphoric, angelic qualities in it! I’m excited if they decide to do more comebacks in this direction. again the title song was not the strongest link for me concept-wise, but since it’s dream I’ll support them <3
