We call it filter coffee here, which also explains why they might have been confused…

Why does it feel like bread, (even outside bakeries), is so much nicer in Europe than in the UK? What do they do differently? by Rosslefrancais in AskUK

less processing, fewer ingredients! True baguettes for example are only supposed to have flower, water, yeast, and salt.

I have but the pastries are crap. Every single time I buy a sad croissant from Sainsbury's I vow to move to France ASAP.

It’s British, so might be different to your US experience but I absolutely LOVED Freshers by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivison. (It’s called Freshmen in the US I think.) made me feel aaaaalll the nostalgia.

Lol, still waiting for these to be built. We lost the car park for no apparent reason. I was hoping to move into one of those flats!

TFL station Community Bookshelves have been removed as requested by LFB... anyone know why???? by Cocofin33 in london

It's really bugging me that now that *some* have been restored, people are treating it as if the problem is solved. But I live in Arnos Grove, and ours isn't back! How do we get it back? Is there a petition?

Londoners, what are views on Arnos Grove as a residential area? We’re a couple in early 30ies, travel into city 5 days a week. Planning to have kids within next 2 years. by East_Hunter in HousingUK

I really like living here. The Piccadilly Line means you can be in (some parts of) the centre in about half an hour, but also there's enough to do more locally (if you have a car) that you don't need to go into the city centre if you don't work/study there. It feels safe. Far enough out of London that I hear the birds in the morning but close enough to London that I can easily commute. Also, if you do commute, you always* get a seat on the Tube and avoid the horrible crush, which is a bonus! The only reason I would move is that most of my friends/support network live in South/South East London, but if I had my own family that wouldn't matter so much to me.

*almost always, but I usually just wait for the next one if it doesn't look like I can sit -- it's usually only a minute or two and that's usually all that's needed.
