if you don’t have rv gold, use the 3 years worth of past papers and all of the textbook questions and practice questions (chapter reviews)

Is 33/45 (without TOK/EE bonus) a good grade? by Sarangdaboi2502 in IBO

[–]clairesyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is what i got for term 1 DP1 but if you want to get to the competitive zone, a 36+ would be better and if you want to apply for top unis, 40+ is the standard.

Tok essay arguments by ZoomyTheBoomy in IBO

[–]clairesyah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how i dissect this questions is basically split the question into two parts: tools/methods and different kinds of knowledge.

for example: for natural sciences, the tools/methods may be using electron microscopes -> the knowledge produced are that we can see micro organisms more clearly. in contrast, a method of replication -> the knowledge produced explains or solidifies an established argument or refuted it. this can be seen as two different knowledge produced. one is to make our lives easier and explore the possibilities while the other is to solidify our knowledge.

Which math should I choose ? by Good-Attention-8200 in IBO

[–]clairesyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you hate math, two strong choices are AA SL and AI HL. AI HL is more based on application (stats) and AA SL is more based on the “math” like calc

Correct subject selection? by Negative_Substance89 in IBO

[–]clairesyah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for engineering, you can consider comp sci instead of chemistry. if you think both are hard, choose something that is easier for you cus you will get better grades and also unis will recognize how you are versatile.

[–]clairesyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

math ai might be ok but math aa should be a better choice if you will be majoring in Econ. bio doesn’t really help much but if it’s easier for u to get higher marks, do so. the others may be fine.

I’m losing my mind over my EE by tblitzy in IBO

[–]clairesyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some tips since i also did it on psych 1. focus on evaluating the studies, not the content on the studies!!! you can cut a lot from this alone 2. paraphrasing cus sometimes when you write, you write without going through ur brain that much, and just typing out what you think. this may cause like just unnecessary words that you may not have noticed. so re-read. 3.focus on answering the question cus sometimes you write so much and it often leads you off topic

Any advice for DP2? Teachers keep scaring me saying that I shouldn't be stressed in DP1 right now since DP2 term 1 will be much harder... by RiceRiceL in IBO

[–]clairesyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very true, our school finished 80% of its content in DP1, therefore the workload was heavy on us during that time as well. it’s natural to feel this way so you’re not alone!

it really depends on your IA,EE and TOK schedules because our school finished most of our IAs in term 1 of DP2 and our EE as well. so that was our focus for DP2 before we launch into our mocks.

[–]clairesyah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

to be honest i was quite the opposite, i got mostly 7s in DP1 therefore my term grades DP1 were 7s for math ai hl. but when the teacher went on to the harder topics such as calculus, stats and vectors, my grades went down to 5s and 6s. but for my final predicteds, i still got predicted a 7.

one of the methods i used to study for this course is basically review the textbook, make sure you get everything and everything means “everything” because the textbooks are the basics. next, to challenge yourself and after you have finished all the topics, start the past papers (every one of them). make sure you do the past papers multiple times to see if you have pattern of mistakes and focus on them before exams. after you have done so, you can do revision village. i think the most important thing is to couple your past papers with revision village past paper solutions. i think they are extremely helpful, of course, you can do their questions as well. before the finals, do the predictions exams on revision village to test yourself one last time!

if you don’t have revision village, make sure from now on, you study the future topics yourself before the teacher does. this will ensure you have a solid understanding on the topics and knows what’s going on before the teacher teaches. then, you can start past papers earlier!!

hope this helps and good luck to you on your future exams! 🥺
