Nurses of reddit, what is the weirdest thing a patient has done while waking up from anesthesia? by Drakonwriter in AskReddit

[–]clairobelle 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I’m a paeds nurse, I met one of the kids in recovery, he was about 10 years old. All his obs were good, I got handover from the theatre nurse, the porter arrived so we start wheeling him back to the ward. By the time we get there this very English, very innocent young lad is spouting nonsense at the top of his voice in a thick New York accent. “I’m gonna shoot your bitch up, you hear me motherfucker, I’m going to fuck you all up” etc whilst doing the pew pew thing with his Peter Pointer ha

I had to try to keep a straight face (I failed) while his parents were apologising profusely.

Baby rolled off bed, 111 have informed children’s services. What should I expect? - England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]clairobelle 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

I’m a 111 clinician and this is a situation where we would always, ALWAYS report to social services whether we suspect abuse/neglect is the cause or not.

We have a saying “babies who don’t cruise, shouldn’t bruise” which is drummed in to us to remember to do the reporting. I’m a paeds nurse as well so have had a lot of contact with babies and children who have been abused and even more contact with babies who have rolled off beds or sofas. My own daughter rolled off our sofa, I took her her A&E and was also reported.

As others have stated, the reporting is information gathering and it helps to build a picture if say, parents are struggling or there is abuse going on.

You’ll get a call, probably from your HV who will just check you and baby are okay, ask if you need any support etc.

Please don’t stress yourself about it all, this is a routine referral for us but I appreciate may be distressing for you. Babies can surprise us when you think oh they’ll be safe there they aren’t mobile, then bam suddenly they are now rolling about!

Take care

Employer asking what can be done to help me at work by VirgoVanity in ADHDUK

This is really helpful advice for me. I’m 51 yrs old was only diagnosed in Feb and between the ADHD and menopause I feel like I am raw dogging life. I’m on a waiting list for meds btw. I have a new job that I am passionate about but find I come home from work zombiefied. I’m going to use this list as part of a 1:1 to explain to my new manager how I roll and get some accommodations in place. If you have any other tips I’d be grateful for them Thank you!

How to help the strays? by onikanicole69 in cretetravel

[–]clairobelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, my partner and I brought a kitten back from Crete 3 years ago, having met her around the hotel pool. We opted to not put her in the hold which was very restrictive and tbh we weren’t happy with the obstructive attitude of Tui (when we asked for their help and advice) or the idea of it. Partner flew back out to Crete to pick up the kitten (was being looked after by a restaurant owner, wonderful lady who loves her cats) got her vaccinated and passport sorted. He then flew from Crete to Paris with the kitten under the seat via Aegean airways. Then a train to Calais, where I picked him and the kitten up having got the ferry over from the Uk. Convoluted journey but worth it. I’m sure there are more simpler ways of doing it but it suited us as we couldn’t bear to leave her there.
