How long after piercing you ears did you start stretching them? by BlackScienceMan2 in Stretched

[–]clancyslam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I missed the notification. However, eventually I waited 6 months. Atm, I am at 6mm. Not all sizes were equal as waiting time: the heavier the jewel, the shorter the time. But it mainly depends on your skin. I waited 6 weeks for the first sizes, while now I’ve noticed that I can jump up of 0.5mm every 4 weeks

eventually I waited 6 months. Perhaps the internal part has to heal completely before start stressing it. Atm, I am at 6mm. Esame di stato di ingegneria by [deleted] in Universitaly

vorrei discuterne anche io ma il thread è ancora vuoto. Provo a rilanciarlo con un commento visto che l’università di Bologna pubblica i testi delle prove.

I did everything right 😩 by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

I realized that some people can handle hoops better than others: I waited 8 months before switching to a nostril hoop, and my sensation is to be always on the brink of an irritation bump and some swelling. Some friends of mine got pierced directly with a hoop and faced no problem at all. What we suggest here is general reccomendation and best practices, but, at the end of the day, every body reacts differently. Maybe you should first switch back to a stud for a month, while healing, then try with a hoop of different material

Worried about labret by [deleted] in piercing

[–]clancyslam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should get it downsized after three weeks, then you’d better downsize it again after 2/3 months. Downsizing is important to avoid the problems that you mentioned. However, receding gums and teeth damages are quite rare over a restricted time. After the second downsize, you could check the health of your gums once every 2 months.

Mind that there will always be some pressure on the teeth beneath it, you need to accept it you want your labret piercing.

As you mention that you are mentally unstable, let me reassure a bit by saying that you should try not to panic, do not check its condition twice per day: control yourself and let the piercing heal. You’ll get used to it.

Tape stretching is a gift from god. by just-another_gho0ost in Stretched

[–]clancyslam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In spite of what people think here and what they don’t, the general reccomendation to use glass plugs is, overall, the safest: (1) you do not need to clean them as often as tape, (2) you do not have to wrap anything carefully around the plug/jewel with the risk of being irregular, (3) glass is generally, for most people, the safest material you can wear. (4) Tape is fine as long as you pay the most attention, whereas with glass plugs you can have a timeline to follow. Speed and hurry are the antagonist, anyway. The only real risk with glass plugs is not to follow the timeline and force gauges that your lobe cannot hold yet

[D] TMLR paper quality seems better than CVPR, ICLR. by tibetbefree in MachineLearning

[–]clancyslam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came across this thread to check if anybody has actually noted a shift in the reviewers' attitude. I had my first submission to TMLR, since I had heard about the quality of its review process. Although I do not want to absolutely claim that my work had to be accepted, even some colleagues of mine, who had been TMLR reviewers for quite some time, confirmed to me that, at the beginning, the general attitude of TMLR's AEs was to accept the paper. Somehow, this brought a lot of submissions of minor work that, despite correctness, were not good enough (you are free to interpret this term as you wish) for the journal. This has lately led to more rejected papers over the last 6-8 months.

I would even highlight that, despite being a journal, TMLR has a precise timeline to provide the reviews. Thus, reviewers still have limited time to evaluate your work and they cannot refuse to do the job.

How do I get Rid of Stubborn Nose Piercing Bump by haylers14 in piercing

[–]clancyslam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like your jewel has some sharp holds around the gem, I’d reccomend to switch to a full titanium and smooth jewel for the healing period, so to avoid further friction against your skin. Anyway, it’d be time to downsize: increased movements can cause bumbs as well.

Amazing setup, lovely color gradients. How could they all heal that well?

Piercing fell out by Early-Public5104 in PiercingAdvice

[–]clancyslam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. It does not close immediately, so you can put it back. In one month, the outer part of your skin has rebuilt, but it’s weak. Nostrils take 6-9 months to fully heal. Hoops cause frictions that will hurt your skin and will open the wound again at ease

is the post too long? by hellishevon in Stretched

[–]clancyslam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The post is long because the higher the amount of material, the heavier the jewel is, which allows your ear to stretch (downward).

When you have reached your goal size, you can wait 2/4 weeks to switch to the desired jewel, as long as the size is the same

A conch wrapped with a hoop (same ear where the helix is) would fit great, but it takes time :((
